I am umming and ahhing over this. I read a review by Andrew Marr some time ago in which he reckoned that by the end of the trial period he was at the stage where he had forgotten he was reading an e-book and not an actual paper book.

I am very tempted, but they are still pretty expensive.

But think of the space I'll save.

But what if a book I want isn't produced as an e-book.

etc etc etc

Does anyone have/use one, and what are your thoughts???

We too have been dithering about this. DH is itching to get one, but I think they are still too expensive (for example, on holiday we would need one each !

But the main reason is that I don't think that the availability of book software to read it cheap and varied enough yet. I found these comments on Amazon quite useful.

I think I will wait a bit longer, but they look great.

I have one and use it mostly on holiday. I used to travel with a trunkload of books to see me through...and now I have just my Sony eBook.

The software is way clunkier than, say, iTunes, which is frustrating. And, naturally, the Sony US download site is far superior to that in the UK but we're not allowed to access it. What's more, the cost of downloading titles is pretty much the same as it would be if you bought the actual book (which seems hard to defend given that you are saving the publisher the cost of paper, ink, distribution etc etc).

Hsving said all that, though, I wouldn't be without mine. Can usually find a few titles lurking on the Waterstone's site that I'm keen to read.
