I finished this last night, and feel as if I've been hit by a truck. Absolutely amazing, I almost couldn't keep up with all the characters but the feeling of continually moving through the story and just tumbling down a cliff towards the end was incredible.

But I absolutely cannot see how this can be on TV! I haven't seen the C4 televisation but how can they do it justice (despite the stellar cast) without glossing over it or putting it on at 3 in the morning?

I want to read the rest of the quartet but I need a break before I embark on 1977 - are the others in the same mould?

Haven't read the books but I saw last weeks 1974 episode - and it was really good. I guess with any adaptation they have to streamline the story?
