Should add that I'm like you and keep meaning to list on there but don't get round to it. I've only heard good things about the site though...

Aye alright then.

I don't want to be the sidekick though

oh that's a pity

because if you are my business partner I will have to arrange for your death in a boating accident two years into our arrangement

if you are my sidekick I can just psychologically torture you

but it's your choice

thanks aDad

I've bought from Green Metropolis, but haven't sold on it. Works well.

no prob, it's reminded me i need to get rid of some, and it is so easy compared to ebay listing etc...

and there's a cheridee element to it I guess

I also use Bookmooch quite a lot.

I might try selling some on there (and try not to buy )

And look at Bookmooch

I've listed on GreenMetropolis but only ever sold a couple.

BookMooch is brilliant. Sadly I find I request nearly as many books as I post out, so as a shelf-clearing exercise it's not much use

There's also ReadItSwapIt - loads of really good books listed on here but unfortunately the direct-swap angle means I hardly ever manage a successful swap as none of the people I request from ever seems to want to read the books I have listed...

To echo what Eliza2 posted on a similar thread a while back though (and to pre-empt the MN writers!): do remember that authors don't get a penny out of book-swapping and secondhand sales. Obviously less relevant for you wanting to sell your books, but for those looking to buy cheaply, she suggested using the library more as then at least the writer gets the PLR pennies. And most libraries will order in stuff - I just managed to get mine to stock UnquietDad's latest

Have to say, BookMooch has totally done my nut.

Postage is really expensive, as everyone buying my books seems to be in the USA/Japan/etc.

Then any books I want, aren't listed.

Gaaaaah.

GreenMetrolop: good for selling bestsellers, also obscure titles, but not stuff in between IMO.

Amazon is good for text/non-fiction books.

Report
CocodeBear · 30/04/2008 14:48

Ooh yes, and Amazon can be good for selling new hardbacks.

JackieNo · 30/04/2008 17:20

Cocodebear - you can say that you'll only send to your own country on Bookmooch. And you can always refuse to send to people. It's worked well for me.
