I was always a big of Anita Shreve from her earlier books but just recently found Eden CLose which was her debeut novel so i am going to give it a try again. I love Sea glass , snow on ice, The pilots wife and the later one set in a girls school about a rape, that was very good too but then a lot of her later ones Wedding in December and body surfing i did not like at all.
What ones do you remember if you are a fan.

First one I ever read was Light On Snow and I still remember it. Lots of the others I've forgotten. Not sure if this means I liked it. Grin

I've read Fortune's Rocks which I can't remember much about, and The Last Time They Met which I loved. I read it again recently after about 10 years and loved it just as much. A really beautiful, unsentimental love story. I've got a couple of others on the shelf waiting to be read too.

I like A Wedding In December, I liked the setting and the friendship group.

I liked The Pilots Wife and Body Surfing as well.

And Where or When, I think that was my favourite after A Wedding In December.

It's been a long time since I read them, I might re-read now.

I love Fortune'S Rocks and have returned to it a few times.

I stumbled upon A Change In Altitude at my local library a few months ago, and really enjoyed it, despite it only receiving a few positive reviews on Amazon.
Since then I've read Light On Snow and again thought it was very good.
I am on the lookout for more of her books as I have found these two easy to read but also very engaging. I especially like the way A Change In Altitude made me feel as though I was really there in Africa.

I loved Rescue, Light on Snow, Body Surfing and a Wedding in December. I recently read Stella Bain, which I enjoyed, but which took a little longer to grip me. I think Rescue and a Wedding in December have been my real favourites.

I've flicked through The Lives Of Stella Bain, but the constantly shifting from one time to another puts me off - I sometimes find that sort of writing confusing and the book has to be really special for me to want to read it.
I may give it a go as I do like Anita Shreve's books a lot.

I read one about couples on a boat, it intertwined with a past seperat story/event. It was fucking awful!

The only one I have ever read is The Last Time They Met. It was pretty compelling and there was an enormous twist which completely took me by surprise and left me feeling a little deflated. But I think the book was very effective and if you've not read it, it might be worth a look.

Fortune's Rock. Loved the lead character's name - Olympia Biddeford (I think?!)

I loved The Weight of Water and The Pilot's Wife. Enjoyed Fortune's Rocks too I think, but can't remember much about it! The thing I admire about Anita Shreve is how she can change her style completely...you might enjoy some Paulina Simons or Anne Tyler novels too actually.
