Had a bit of an Amazon binge last night and added lots of things to my wish list, titles that I know I would other wise forget about when I come to download my next lot of books. The list includes:

The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neil Gaiman

Big Brother, Lionel Shriver
Straight White Male, John Niven

Go Ask Alice, Annonymous (a book I read as a 14 year old and have thought about a few times since)

I recommend adding The Light Between Oceans by M L Stedman to your list. You won't regret it. It is a heartbreakingly beautiful novel.

Not everything I wish list is because I want to read it though. I wish list things I think friends might like, so I can remember to recommend them, or things that I don't want immediately but might have a think about for another time.

On Go Ask Alice, I had it pressed into my hands as a teenager by my parents trying to keep me away from drugs (nobody has ever offered me drugs). It seems that it was a work of fiction and not a real-life diary after all. Might still be interesting as a period piece, though.

The only book on your list that I've read is Big Brother. I felt a bit cheated at the end, but overall I quite enjoyed it, though I wouldn't say it's the Best.Book.Ever.

I don't have much of a wish-list at the moment. The local library is really good, so I can get most books I want from there. I'm on the waiting list for a few books at the moment, including The Hive by Gill Hornby.

Thanks nickname. I thought as much when I look back at it as adult. Still don't think I've recovered from finding out A million little pieces wasn't the memoir it was sold as!
