Hi Freddo, a friend of mine saw your post so I thought I would reply. I'm so glad that you thought A Jarful of Angels was beautiful. Thankyou!
Now, as to the angels in the jar! I can't give much away, because I am hoping to write a sequel to A Jarful of Angels one day in the future- maybe when I've finished the book that I'm working on now. But, if angels do exist and if there is a God( I still haven't made my mind up) then the one child of all that I think God would show a miracle to would be Fatty Bevan.
He is the most 'worldly' wise of the four children in one way and yet the most innocent of all of them and he has the ability and intuition to feel things on a different level. I love the lines from Hamlet-'there are more things in heaven and earth,Horatio than are dreamt of in your philosophy.' Maybe Fatty has the ability to see beyond the ordinary and the everyday? Not much help as an answer, I guess?
I also think that some of the traditional images of angels are naff- all those simpering, apple cheeked little beauties used to get on my nerves as as a kid- probably because I was a dark haired tom boy who couldn't keep clean for more than a few minutes! I always thought that a real guardian angel would have to deal with some dirty jobs and they'd need to be tough and unfazed by the grittier side of life! I hope that helps a bit? With very best wishes, Babs x

Thank you so much Babs... I never expected and answer from someone who knows so much about the subject Grin I was hoping the angels might be real so I'm extremely happy with your answer. Yes, Fatty would definitely be the kind of person who'd see an angel first.

I loved the book and feel quite bereft now that I've finished it. Please do write a sequel! I'd love to know what Fatty and Iffy have been getting up to! x

You're very welcome Freddo. I am busy writing my fifth book- The Emporium of Dreams and another called The Coronation Kid so when they're done I may think about the sequel! All best wishes, Babs x

Well, this is a long shot as your message was so long ago. Thought you'd like to know the Welsh Connection book club in Bournemouth has just read (and loved!) A Jarful of Angels. Brought back memories of growing up in Wales in the 1960s for a number of us. Is there any chance of a sequel? In particular, does Will live to find Fatty?! Best wishes and thank you for a lovely book.

Hello OP and hello @bhorton. What a treat to hear from the author!

I read A Jarful of Angels many moons ago and loved it. From South Wales myself and loved the characters and the village setting.

I think I pictured the contents of the jars as fireflies.

I have it on my Kindle and will be rereading it soon.

Hi Liz, sorry it's taken a few days to get back to you. Thankyou so much for taking the time to write. I'm delighted that the Welsh Connection group loved A Jarful of Angels. I may write a sequel one day! In my mind I've planned the journey he'll make through Spain to find Iffy's mother. I hope life is going well for you particularly during these awful times. Take good care of yourself xx

A lovely surprise to have a reply to such an old thread. Thank you so much for contacting and I'm delighted a sequel may still be on the cards. In the meantime I'll be enjoying your other books. Keep safe!
