bah.

grumpy i know, and they mean well. i am 5ft 3 and weigh 14st ten. i did weigh 16stone 4lb last summer, so it is slowly cominng off.

But it gets me down when people say i dont look that big. i know i am overweight, and my main target for this year is to get to 12stone if possible. but my overall target is 10stone, or size 12, whichever comes first.

do you think i am being unrealistic? or have people just gotton used to me being big?

its people who know i am on a diet, and ask how much i want to lose.

it is really uncomfortable. i mean what do u say when they say it?

i know 10stone will [put me at the 'higher' end of being ok weight wise for my height, but i really dont think going lower will 'look' ok, and am paranoid of my big hips looking boney.

They mean well, you can't really win when talking about someone elses weight so it's best not to mention it. Change the subject if possible.

Perhaps you could just say "I'm trying to be fit and healthy" and leave it at that. They can't argue with that surely?

Well done for loosing a couple of stone so far though.

It's hard not to say something clumsy when you are a thin person expected to comment on someone's diet, because you don't want to imply the person doesn't look lovely as they are, but equally you want to be supportive. I worry that if I sound too enthusiastic about the prospect of a friend dieting they'll think that I've always thought they ought to lose weight. But equally of course if you care about someone you want them to be healthy & the size they want to be.

It's a minefield isn't it?

Well done so far

I hate it when people say that, although they mean well

thank you.

i honestly thought i was being a grumpy moo (i know i am a bit). i think i;m even guilty of saying similar things myself.

another one is 'but you carry the weight well' lol. yes all on my hips and belly, its held we3ll there and not likely to fall off.

I didn't go to clas slast week, but am 1/2 a pound of losing 2 stone so I'm feeling hopeful for this week. I did make a date and walnut cake though at the weekend and keep nibbling at it!

Hi there,

I just read your comments, and know perfectly well how hard is to get rid onf the weight.

I experienced that myself and joining a gym was the best thing I could ever done. I know that having kids is difficult but what if you could have 2 hours 2 days a week for you, for your gym sessions? It will be easier to follow a diet if you also exercise.

I am givin Spanish lessons to children individually and in groups for 2 hours when taking care of them and mums just cannot believe that they have time for them.

Think about it.
I left my advert and contact details.
Regards,
