Hi, I had a baby 6 months ago and put on over 4 stone whilst carrying him (he was a big boy) but i thought i would lose alot of it when he was born..I didnt!
Basically i am still 3 stone heavier than before and the excuse 'i've just hd a baby' is wearing slightly thin. I now have very low self-confidence as far as my apperence goes and need some help.
I know i cant really moan when i havent done anything about it but it is quite hard with a little baby plus i tried really hard for a couple of weeks and actually put weight on.
I am determined to do something now but need some encouragement. Any advice, tips or words of good will very much appreciated!

I also had a baby six months ago and I'm still two stone overweight - have lost a stone - but I gained half a stone AFTER delivery because I was knackered and comfort eating.

My current strategy is exercise three times a week for 30 minutes, and not eating between meals (and eating really slowly). Which is working so far.

Remember it took a while to gain that weight and it may take you double that time again to lose it, but if you plod away it will go.

Cambridge diet is great as long as you're not breastfeeding.

I must be the only person gaining weight by breastfeeding - it makes you hungry though. LeBe whatever you decide to do, don't do it alone, make everyone around you help. It's a mental health issue if you are depressed about your weight which means it's in your partner's and friends interests to help you.

We have a thread going in this section. Basically you liveon shakes/soups/bars and go into mild ketosis so feel good and not hungry. THere is no group meeting but you meet with a counsellor.
Average is a stone a month!

HI there,
well....I am loosing weight at the moment with the help of Jason Vales Books (The Juicemaster)...I did his 7Ibs in 7days detox plan, which worked a treat, then I continoued with his Turbo charge programme, and I am on the last day of that...no idea how much weight I have lost this week...the first week I only lost 1 Ibs...however, I know I have toned up big time, and I assume I put on muscle...I can now tighten my belt 3 holes tighter then to start with....so something worked.
And as of tomorrow I will do his Slim4Life/freedom from the foodtrap plan...just finished his book in time...!
I feel so much better for it....I have gone from not exercising much, other then walking a lot, to exercising twice a day, mostly now 2x1h....and my Fitness level has increased big time.
I don't crave Junk food anymore, and I know I am giving my Body the best nourishment that I can.
He doesn't believe in the need of low fat/ calory counting, etc....it's about good Quiality OIls, etc...that you use....to much to put into a post....but if you can get your hands on the Slim4LifeBook that would be a brilliant start

Ive just seen an internet diet too for £2.99 a week not sure how good they are too.

Cambridge thread number 4 or something like that. You meet in the counsellors house once a week ot be weighted and buy the stuff - about 35 pounds a week but so worth it. They also have their own website and if you google minimims it has an excellent thread on the cambridge diet.

LeBe, that is the beauty, no will poweer required, well, for the Slim4Life anywya...Jason Vale is a great Life and Health Coach (he has a website with some Info)...honest to god, the things he tells you about certain foods will make you feel priviledged NOT to eat the rubbish anymore. So, defo no willpower....his book is really easy reading, to...no science blabla, down to earth and funny even
Maybe have a look in the local library and see if you cna get hold of a copy there....thing is the Cambridge Diet is not really a longterm solution, and I know several people who did it, and succesfully lost their weight, however, they put it all back on after a while, as they hadn't make a true shift in their way of thinking about food. And it's the way you think and feel about certain foods that will determine if you put them into your body or give them a miss....etc...! Honest, to hard to explain....as you can see, I am sold on JV

OH, those friends that did Cambridge Diet also found it very difficult NOT to eat proper food....which certianly requires willpower, don't you think?

link to Amazon website, with loads of customer reviews of the Slim4Life book which might be helpful, and a synopsis of the book

Thanks 3andnomore. I spoke to my mum last night and told her and she said she did a similar one but you mostly loose fluid and then put it back when you start eating again and like you said you need real willpower so may give that a miss, although 1stone a month does sound rather appealling .

Thanks for the link gonna have a look now, will let you know how i get on!! x

I recommend slimming world - doesn't require a huge a mount of will power as you can eat as much as you like! Have been going since middle of jan and have nearly lost 2 stone and have had to buy all new clothes cos everything got too big. Think the best way is not to do anyhting you see as a diet as such, more a healthy eating plan so you don't feel deprived etc

Hi again,
SW and WW are also very good, btw...have done both succesfully, however, again it didn't change my attitude to food, and that meant I would fall off the wagon, where now, I am not in a Diet mode (therefore there is no wagon to fall off from), I don't use low fat/low sugar stuff, just eat healthily....like I said the Book really changed my attitude to the food itself.
Incidently there is obviously some Juicing involved, and I suppose that isn't for everyone, but I truely enjoy fresh homeexpressed Juices. So, no hardship, what you enjoy
If you haven't got a Juicer, you can get one from E-bay relatively cheap....I got my FIL in SIL a Easy Health Cyclone, whihc has a high watt motor and they are both really pleased wiht it, and it was just under £40 including p&p....!
I just wish I had gotten one of those for myself, too....lol...got myself a Jack Lalenne one and can't really recommend it, and I paid £10 more then for those ther ones, sigh!
Hohum, also gotten myself a lil masticating Juicer, too, though...an Easy Health one, which is fab, so, I get by...lol ;)

Wow you really are set on the juicing arent you? . I really admire you I read his book about the truths about chocolate to try and put me off but no such luck but the idea of fresh juice does sound nice but i just think i will get fed up after about a week and start on the choccies again. I actually dont eat that bad i dont like alot of fattening stuff and have a healthy dinner most nights and dont eat that much it is defo chocloate that is my down fall! The other thing i wanted to ask you is, is it expensive for all the ingredients as we are slightly hard up at the mo with ahving the baby! Thanks

Hi again, well, you do go through a lot of apples and possibly carrots, and then can add to that really,(cucumber, celery, broccoli, etc...I know, don't sound great, but it's worth a try..the sky is your limit, and you actually have more variety and choice then you's ever have wiht cereal and breads, lol...I mean, how many fruits and vegetables are there?) as and how you see fit...whatever you can get cheap, etc...!
I find, that making a Juice doesn't take much longer then say, making yourself Toast or Cereal...espeically if you use a centrifugal one that can take whole fruits, etc...i.e. has a wide chute.
Oh, and a Blender of any kind would come in handy, too
Thing is if you eat whole foods you will actually eat less, therefor it is kinda saving...!
I am a self confessed Chocoholic, but you know what, I don't really miss it now...and I actually had a lil piece of chocolate cake last week, aat my Fil Birthday, and where I usually would have been left wanting more, I didn't...the one piece was nice, I would lie to say it wasn't, lol, but it was far to sweet to have more...something unheard of before, honest....I am a person that would easily go through a Family sized Bar of Galaxy wihtin half an hour and would be able to eat more of the stuff....!
I must admit though, I read his Chocolate Buster Book, and that so didn't help...whilest reading it I was craving chocolate more then ever, and just ate it, till the cows came home, lol, and I didn't really feel the desire NOT to have it after reading it neither....but having done the Detox, I suppose really got the craving out of me, as it ridded my system of the stuff....sugar etc...will leave you wanting more...etc...it's all in the book and it does make complete sense!
You don't have to Juice, if you don't want to...just means you have to eat more fruit and vegetables...

No i think the juicing would be better, having a little one eating all pureed food at the moment i can honestly say some of the stuff is a bit gross but then blended is actually alright. I suppose like you say some veg would be probably just as much as all the chocolate and rubbish i buy!
So which book should I get cos when i looked them up there were loads!!!
Thankyou for all your help sorry about all the questions!

Well, I have read teh Ultimate Fast food first, then Chocolate Busters, then 7Ibs in 7 days (which is a great way to jumpstart yourself), then Turbo charge then Slim4LIfe....however, if you only want to get one book now, then I would probably say Slim4Life is best for that to get you on course for lifetime success...but like I mentioned the 7Ibs detox is kind of a good way to get rid off the rubbish! However, it does require some supplements that are not that cheap! And I am pretty sure you will see and feel the difference just doing Slim4LIfe.
BTW, if you would decide on a Masticating Juicer, you cna also make Pasta, Babyfoods, Bananbased Icecreams and Sorbets with it.
I have actually seen one on E-Bay for £50 (of course I only saw it after I bought my one, lol....) however, masticating ones are slow, but the lifetime of the Juice is longer and the Quality is better....hence me having one of each, lol!
HTH
