Weight loss and clothes sizes

How much weight do you need to lose before you drop a dress size?
I'm 5ft7 started off at 14st 8lb size 16 & 32GG, now down to 12.5st still wearing size 16 and down to a 32G. I had hoped to get to a size 10 but I'm doubting this is achievable!
My body shape has changed (I can definitely see a difference when I'm undressed) but my clothes seem to fit much the same as before!
I'm usually in skinny jeans and a t-shirt but ive not had to buy new clothes and if I try on size 14 jeans, they're girth tight and no way could I wear them.
So how much weight did you need to lose before you needed new clothes?

Well done for loosing so much weight. Are you trying on clothes in dif shops cos sometimes I can get into dif sizes depending on shop. Eg if your current jeans are. M&s 16 but you tried topshop 14 there will be a huge difference xx

Thank you. I had thought that might be the problem but even the same jeans from the same store, in a smaller size are awful Hmm tops are slightly better and I can wear a couple of 14s without them looking too tight. I might need to review my goal weight to get to a size 10/12.

I usually have this problem though am just stuck at a 16 atm. I seem to have a 2-2.5 st range where I fit into size 16 clothes. I find getting to a 14 quite hard but then it doesn't take that much more weight loss to get to a 12. I never manage to get down to a 10/12 even when I ate very well and exercised loads. Well done on your weight loss!

Thank you, I think I might be the same. It's all new to me as I've been heavy for Most of my adult life. I'm following slimming world and now running so hopefully it won't be long til I can buy some new clothes.

I've lost 3 stone so far, 5'8 and have gone from an 18 (occasional 20) to a solid 16--still pushing an 18 in some clothes. It's bloody depressing because I have some lovely size 14 pre DD clothes calling out for me! Angry

It is blooming depressing, you're right. I've worked so hard to get this weight off and I hardly look any different Angry
Well done on your weight loss.

Thanks Chester, it's been a year of hard work and another 3 stone still to go! I've just recently started running and doing weights again so hopefully I'll get a bit fitter and more toned and that will make the difference!

I'm sure even if you still fit in the same clothes you probably look better in them now Grin

I have a pair of size 16 jeans from Dorothy Perkins that are now getting a little too big, yet a pair of New Look size 16 jeans that are almost impossible to get on without twerking into them, and when they're fastened I can barely breathe! Damn clothing manufacturers!!

Hi I'm 5'5" and am 11 stone 3. I'm a size 12 (sometimes 14). I have reached about 12 stone and was a definite size 14 then.
Hope this helps.

Thanks!
The thing I look best in in my opinion is my running legging things and vest top.
I've been doing SW since April and running for past 6weeks so maybe I'll wake up one morning and I'll need a whole new wardrobe! So far I've bought 1new bra...

I've really been thinking about this, have lost 3st. Same height, hovering around 13st. Do you think it depends on body shape? I'm a 40C (prob need a bra intervention) so small chested in relation to my lard arse. But New Look size 14 jeans fit so well, yet not much room in an18 from Next. Not helpful am I! Style and Beauty board people might be very helpful with this.

Definitely look at a bra intervention, I doubt you're really a 40band, it really changed my shape when I started wearing a properly fitting bra even though I was very surprised at the size it suggested! It took some tweaking to get the right style to suit me but the size was right!
Ts next jeans that I tried on, I'm going to try New look to see if I can buy one pair of smaller trousers!!

I think it just depend on shape, body twin!!
5'7, 13stone, 34G. Just bought my next 12 months worth of trousers, and am 14 Next linen trousers and shorts. Currently wearing my (very old) 12 next jeans. They are a bit snug on my thighs!!! Contemplated trying on the 12s, but figured looser is better when it's hot (not usually resident in UK, but need to ship shoes, bras and trousers here rather than at home...)

PETRONELLAS for sure, a bra intervention.
If you've got a tape measure to hand, measure round where the band goes. Bet it's 32 or 34 inches, and you need a much bigger cup. It will look like you've lost about a stone!
