'Ignored' by MN has kicked me

Soon2bC · 04/08/2016 13:16

A couple of weeks ago I had posted that I was on self destruct and couldn't stop eating I was waiting to hit the point where I could start weight loss but felt blocked.
No one commented or replied to my post. I am aware that this is down to numerous reasons a) post not seen b) post not that interesting c) it didn't ask a direct question d) the whole universe does not revolve around me! And many more reasons which I think we can live without listing.
However, it suddenly occurred to me that I was on a public forum moaning about my own lack of motivation and whinging on and realised that no one could fix it for me and no reply doesn't mean no one cares but I am responsible for myself not the lovely MN community. This self realisation has been the kick start I needed!!!! So with MFP and serious calorie counting and more exercise I am on the journey to a more positive and much healthier me.

So today I am back saying hello to all of you who are trying to shift a few pounds. How are you doing today?

1st weigh in - 22-07-2016
13st
2nd weigh in - 04-08-2016
12st 7lb - 7lb weight loss (yay, but please slow to a sustainable pace!)

Well done - that is a really good loss!

Well done you! Sometimes all it takes is a bit of a kickstart. Keep going Smile.

I am currently 8 weeks pg, my second, and am determined not to gain as much as I did first time round as I haven't lost it all. I've decided to follow slimming world while pregnant but so far my nausea has been stopping me in my tracks. Hoping that following this thread will keep me focused!

Thank you everyone!
Coco - normally when feeling down I would have taken it very personally but for some reason this time it didn't bother me as much as the thought that I was hoping other people could 'fix' me.
I have spent hours reading everyone elses ups and downs on here and it has really helped. There are so many people in the same battles.
I think a lot of my initial loss has been to the change in my diet and not having as much salt, I feel sure its a lot of water weight as I haven't stopped peeing! I went for my first bike ride in a decade and did a respectable 15k and loved it, cant wait to go again at the weekend. I have cut out most snacking but am not denying myself anything if it fits my calorie allowance.

I think I saw your thread, but didn't have anything useful to say about stopping bingeing, so didn't!

Bob I'm not even sure I needed anyone to comment just had to vent my own frustrations. Sometimes it helps to read what you have written to realise how you are feeling I guess.
I have been extra good today, am having a real dip day and wanted junk so went to the snack machine but came away with empty hands and had a hot chocolate instead. I am in that smug place right now. I want to lose 2 1/2 stone total but my goal right now is to hit 12st and try on my wedding dress which is currently too small! I get married in April so plenty of time to get healthy.

I read your post numerous times and tried to compose a helpful reply, but I honestly didn't know what advice to offer. I did think how lucky you are to be in such a strong and happy relationship with your DP and with a lovely wedding not too far away!
7lbs is a great kick start - well done! Keep us updated with your progress x

Well done and don't worry about a 'manageable' loss - it can be very quick at the start (because you lose water and glycogen as well as fat) plus I find that weight I have recently gained will come off faster

I think I may have seen your thread and had nothing to add too - sorry!

I think though ... Like lots of changes, we 'contemplate' losing weight for a bit, then there is the action stage (and sounds like you are in it in spades!)

It's all going so well at the moment! Will need you guys loads when I have a dip day though Smile
I am pleased my original thread slipped by with no responses. I also read others and think that I don't have anything to say or any use and never really expect anyone to reply. In reality I wasn't ignored but it was the push I needed mentally.
Just tried the dress and it zips up again!!!!!! It's tight but it zips!!!!!!! Got buckets of motivation right nowGrin

Have managed to stick to my calories all weekend (even on friday night when I went hungry to a Bryan Adams concert and had only junk to choose from) and have done a 12k bike ride on Friday and 20k on Sunday!!! Who'd have thought it?! Me on a 20k bike ride! That's like real exercise!!!!!

Well done. You're on the right road now and the hardest part is over - getting on the road Smile.

I started 2 years ago at 13.5 stone or so and am now just over 9 stone. Most of that came off within 4-6 months and the final stone over the next 3 months.

I had a different username on here then but generally found it quiet, and unhelpful but mainly due to the fact that posts often go unnoticed. I used to try my best to respond to threads that had no replies, but then I often found that the OP wouldn't come back, so I gave up!

Weighloss is very hard to achieve when you have a tendency to binge, so well done. It really is not easy, and you'll face temptation many, many times and may fall off the wagon at times.

Keep posting if it helps!

How are you doing Soon2bC?
Weekends are the hardest. My trick is to get a good workout and you won't want to undo all that by binging.

Aoibhe I'm doing well. I have a bike ride planned tomorrow morning followed by a family BBQ have decided to drive so I don't drink my calories and am taking chicken and salad. Think I have lost 2lbs this week but official weigh in will be on Sunday.
How are you this evening? Smile

Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow but don't beat yourself up either as you can fluctuate day to day.
Hope you enjoyed the BBQ. I find those hard as often people in my experience will really try and sabotage your efforts and encourage you to eat more than you should.
I'm having a Chinese takeaway tonight but sharing it with DH. When I was overweight, no one was allowed a grain of rice Grin
