Sick of being fat.

It's time for change. I weighed myself and I'm 14st 9. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I'm not happy.
I know why I'm so big. I have 3 children. DS1 is 7. DD is 22 months and DS2 is 13 weeks and 5 days today. When I was pregnant with DD I had SPD. This wasn't diagnosed until quite late in the pregnancy and I wasn't able to get physio until after she was born. I had physio for 10 months before being discharged and falling pregnant with DS2. The SPD kicked in very quickly and I ended up on crutches at 17 weeks. By the end of my pregnancy I couldn't even get to my downstairs toilet alone. So I've basically had 2 years of being unable to move properly, plus pregnancy appetite (I eat loads when pregnant, and are even more with DS2) and sugar cravings.
I'm still not 100% and probably never will be, but I can't stay this size. I am determined to do what I can to lose weight. Any tips would be fantastic. I have downloaded mfp again and am going to stick to 1300 calories a day. I'm also going to use my cross trainer and the wii/kinect as much as I physically can each day.

Anyone want to join me in this journey? Or just want to cheer me on?

Just to say that Instagram has been a huge inspiration for me with real people who've had amazing results, through SW, MFP and incredible will power! Search weight loss etc on there for ideas of who to follow. Message for more details if interested x

I tried the 5:2 diet a few weeks back and that worked really well
Also cutting back on carbs , alcohol , snacking
Boring but it works

Yes I agree, cutting back on carbs helps loads

I'm trying to lose 2 stone so I can re start marathon training for next spring.

I'm trying to cut down bread/rice/pasta/potato carbs
Mfp
Short runs/cross trainer
Measurements and weekly weigh in

Good luck op. I've also heard no food at all after 6pm is effective

Thanks everyone. Will give it a try. I feel like sugar is a big problem for me. I have a serious sweet tooth so I'm trying to cut down on that. Unfortunately when you've had no sleep and are unwell the temptation is there.

The way I (try) to deal with temptation is by planning ahead. I think food wise you have to put yourself first a bit, and let the kids etc, fall in with you. So I make my meal but it's the family meal too. Instead of making something different for me we all have what I'm having.... Courgetti went down surprisingly well!

I have to just not buy in biscuits/crisps. I buy as we go along so they are t sat there looking at me for very long

I've had on going hip issues since DS was very little, made worse when pregnant with DD. My SPD was never as bad as yours, but I have had 3 lots of physio in 4 years and have sciatica. Apparently I'll be prone to it until menopause when (I quote my physio here) everything will stiff up Confused

Pilates is the way forward. It strengthens the core muscles and is a gentle yet surprisingly vigorous work out.

I do make the kids whatever I'm having the problems arise at night when I end up pigging out on shite Confused but not buying it is a good idea Grin and I think closing the kitchen for anything but water after 6.
I do some pilates exercises bank the ones I remember from physio. Unfortunately my doctor won't refer me back to physio yet. He's being a dick about it. Because I can't remember the exact date I was last there (June at some point). I can't afford an actual pilates class. I'm skint.

I had spd during my pregnancy. And have hip/lower back problems that were pre-exsisting. I'm always bigger than I should be. I'm trying to focus on eating good wholesome foods and not massive portions.

I also need to try pilates. I found a post natalpilates video on nhs website I've not tried it yet though.

Sorry chatty children.

I've also recently this week started reusing MFP don't like the underarmer make over it's had though. If nothing else it's a good way to learn how to balance your food intake as it tells you how many carbs, protein, sugars etc you should be eating.

I've used it in the past successfully.

Make small changes 1 or 2 at a time. Make them stick and then make another change. It will be a lot easier to deal with and maintain, especially when you're busy and tired.

Thank you. For those of us who suffered SPD, I was given this link by a physiotherapist on here if you want to take a look

Try a pilates dvd/online video. Make DP take the kids for an hour twice a week so they aren't climbing all over you.

Most of my physio moves are pilates based.

Can I use the boots of doom on your Dr?

Also now I'm back on mfp, my fruit tea consumption is through the roof! (I didn't really eat that after 8 last night, I fed it to TC when no one was looking)

You can absolutely use the boots of doom on the doctor. Grin
I've got some fruit teas. I thought if nothing else they would help with my sweet tooth.
I do yoga on the wii but most of them I can't get in the positions. I can't stand on one leg I'm wobbly Confused
Don't worry I won't tell anyone about the after 8 Grin

I know you are sick of being overweight, but you should also be kind to yourself as your youngest is still very young. That said, being kind to yourself means eating well. I didn't like slimming world, but I think the principle of filling one third of your plate with either salad or vegetables is a very good one and a good easy place to start.

Report
FattyNinjaOwl · 06/11/2015 08:56

I try to do that anyway. I am using smaller plates to try and cut down on portion sizes. I've also been told not to worry about too much exercise until I'm consistently getting 6 hours sleep a night, but I need to do something.
I think my brew intake is pushing my calories up....I drink a lot of brews. (I need the caffiene) think I'm going to have to switch to water.

I'm been too sleep deprived for the gym these last couple of months, but in that time I've joined ww and lost 9lbs, so it's definitely food intake that makes the difference.

I didn’t do much exercise when I first started losing weight after DD (due to buggered hips). Physio and less food was enough to start with. She was 6 months by then though so older than BabyFatty.

I'm only going to do a little bit. No point doing too much and knackering myself up more. You'd think all the running around after the DCs would make the weight drop off! Not fair Sad

Give yourself a break op - your smallest is not yet 3 months! I was in your position after dc3. 13.5 stone at only 5ft1. I waited until dc3 was 10 months and embarked on a vlcd (Exante), which probably wouldn't be recommended by everyone but it worked for me. I'm off it now but find it easy and snack far less than I used to and am gradually losing the last half a stone. I was bf though and wanted to be sure that the baby was eating plenty as well - my gp suggested an extra 150 calorie meal (used MFP to work it out) which took me to around 750 cals a day. Am also lucky enough to be able to walk the school and pre-school runs. Some people use wrist/ankle weights when exercising - I strapped the baby to my back and marched home/round the village as the only way to incorporate some exercise into my day. Gymming and swimming won't really be possible until #3 is 2 and at preschool a couple of mornings.

Be gentle with yourself and take a bit of time to recover from birth and formulate a plan. Flowers

Thanks signora
I do try to tell myself that baby fatty is still only little but I'm just used to being a size 10 not a size 16
I walk the school run too, but my baby is already too heavy for me to carry for too long. He was 10 lb 10 at birth so he's a bit of a chunk Grin and school is a good 20 minute/half hour walk away (depending on how bad my hips/back are) I have the cross trainer and the wii, but I'm usually interrupted by someone needing me! I will have to get DP to take them out for a bit each weekend so I get one day uninterrupted. (if I'm around the littlest won't settle for him, he's a mummies boy)
I now have pins and needles in my arm where the baby is led Hmm
