RUNNERS Thread...

Hi, just wondered if there are any fellow mnetters out there that run and if so, if you wanted to start a thread to have a general natter about it. (Apologises if there already is one, i scanned the list but couldnt find one!)

I ran for about a year before i fell pregnant with DD, I kept active walking whilst pregnant but I didn't run again until DD was 5 months old. (had quite a bad birth)

I've now been running again for over a year. I do four runs a week (sometimes more, sometimes less depending on someone being able to have DD) My runs are between 45 mins - 70 mins. I applied for the London Marathon this year but didn't get a place through the ballot so I'm trying to get a charity place at mo. I really want to do it this coming year, as I don't know when I'll get chance to do it again. (would like (touch wood) to have another bambino the year after, must be mental!)

Anywhoo, becos id like to do the marathon, have started extending my runs even longer and also doing a spot of speed work (which i hate) and hill training (which i also hate).

I don't tend to lose weight because I eat too much! Wish i could get it in hand, cos im sure i cud be a sliver of the size I am now.

There's no real point to what I'm saying! Just wanted a ramble on about running. Please do the same! Or even if you don't run or would like to or would like some motivation to, go ahead, post away!

Snailpace (ace name and a good description of my running style lol) - there's a Runners thread under Sports. I'll bump it for you. I think we're on to our 4th thread now as the others got toooo long. There's definitely a couple of marathoners over there, I'm not one of them.

luckylady - I run with a friend too. I've never got to grips with going alone and tend to give up when it gets too tough.

hi lucky lady, well they say it only takes 14 times of going out running for it to become a habit! So do keep on, keeping on!

Ive always run alone and it can become a bit tedious, cos i believe half of it is mental fitness! Having a problem to mull over, or lots of things on the mind, can help you take your mind off the fact that you are running alone! Or have you tried music? Since I've started running longer runs, I've been looking at some of the music equpiment for runners available.

Hi Saggar, i shall take a look in sport! Yes i run at snail pace too! Get their in the end though! x

oh - I run twice a week with a friend, we don't go far and we chat so we don't go fast but it is better than going out for a drink. I was size 18 when dd born (now 4) through exercise and a little dieting I am down to a 12. I must say I am not in love with running, more a social thing with my friend. Must say really hard to be motivated in this cold and dark - roll on the summer!

Wow snailpace - am impressed with your running, am not really a runner if put next to you. Good luck with the marathon thing - there are lots of others if you don't get in. Let us know.

Hi Dimpled thighs,

Wow, that is really good work! From a 18 to 12. fantastic!

Yeah the dark nights and bitter wind aren't very inviting are they? I find if I put my running stuff on when i get dressed (regardless of what time i intend to go out and run), that i am more likely to actually go out and do it.

Lol to taking the dog! Or is it the dog taking you!
