3 weeks in and not a lb lost

Becoming really despondent.

After putting on 18lbs over the course of a difficult 2 years I got to a place where I can diet. Have been really carefully cutting out snacks first and the focusing on making sure the meals I eat are now healthy and calorie appropriate. My weight isn't starting to move and I'm eating only 1200 calories a day. I'm fairly active ruining around with the children but not active enough I think I'm building muscle so that doesn't explain it. Wish my body would wake up and realise we are doing this and it needs to get with the programme.

Frustrated

Would you think of joining Slimming World? I have successfully lost weight doing their plan (although I fell off the wagon a while ago but have climbed back on now). Would you consider posting a typical days food to see if someone more intelligent than me would be able to advise you?

I don't want to sound patronising but are you sure you're only eating 1200 a day?

I know someone who got MFP and guessed their portion sizes were the average ones on there. I think they started weighing their stuff a while later and found their rice portions x2 as much, pasta x3 and potatoes x5!!!

Also are you counting the calories you are drinking? They are the ones I tend to forget about!

Agree with lastqueen - unless you're weighing everything, it's unlikely you're eating 1200!

I'm not saying that in a bad way at all, just what you can eat with 1200 calories is so different to what you expect.

You won't be building muscle. But actually you might not be eating enough

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I am really sure about my calorie intake as I lost 4 stone 10 years ago after my daughter was born. Then lost another 2 stones 3 years ago and am used to measuring portions and counting calories. I am going to work on the basis that being the wrong side of 40 that my body and metabolism is changing and will keep plugging away.

Thank you everyone.

What do you eat on an average day?

I skip breakfast as I tend to just feel nauseous on a morning when faced with food. Lunch is always soup. No snacks at all and for dinner a home cooked calorie counted dinner. eg omlette and salad, medium baked potato with veg and chicken breast etc

26 point 2, marathons are like chocolate I'm afraid! No such thing as just one! I ran my last one (number 3) with more KT tape than i have skin I was so injured, burst into tears in agony at mile 20, promised myself never again... planning on running at least two next year.

Superbaghag Could it be that you aren't eating enough? I'd be starved on a bowl of soup and an omelette and salad!

I also don't think you are eating enough. And drinking? How much water? I would recomend 'my fitness pal' to log food to keep you motivated. You can also log activity and water.

lastqueen I'm so far uninjured for this marathon. But a life detour means I've only trained up to 18 miles, not the 20 I'd wanted.

I have never logged drinks I MFP but will from now. Thanks.

Re intake I just don't know. I'm really reluctant to up my intake as I can just feel myself getting fatter Hmm

Superbaghag You sound like me 12 months ago. Im mid-forties and like you, the old calorie counting was giving no results. I decided to do a week at zslimmeria bootcamp followed by Alizonne. It worked. lost 12 lbs in a week at bootcamp and 25lbs in 3 month on Alizonne. I had my metabolic rate measured (resting) and it was only 1300 calories (its 1100 now) Shock

Low carb, regular, protein based meals are the way to go and build in 3 x exercise sessions per week too to rev up your metabolism.

Its shit but the only way to shift it at our age.

MyFitnessPal was telling me to eat 1200 calories per day without knowing anything about me. Get your BMR measured together with your thyroid. Good luck.

PM me if you'd like more info.

Hi all
Reading though though I'd join in, I've recently completed the c9 clense programme and lost 8 1/2 lbs in 9 days. It a 9 day programme designed to clense the body of all the stored toxins that have built up over the years and help aid weight loss. It involves drinking aloe Vera gel, suppliments, shakes and 600 calorie meals. It's fantastic and because the purity of the aloe Vera gel is so high I've felt other benefits to. I have so much more energy, I sleep better, my skin better and the weight has stayed off and more lbs lost. I still drink the gel now, it not cheap £121 and can only be ordered from a registered distributor but for me it was worth every penny it was Defo the boost I need to start maintaining my weight. Good luck and hope you achieve your goals, happy to answer any questions about the c9 xx
