I'm sick of feeling under-confident about my weight and shape. I joined the gym on the 1st of March and I'm trying to overhaul my eating too - I don't eat much rubbish (the Great Biscuit Binge of 2 weeks ago aside) but I think I overeat the wrong things and I'm aiming to change that.

I have a Legs, Bums and Tums gym class booked for Thursday, and Aerobics on Monday. Here goes...

You sound like you're onto a good start! I was doing well today, until about 20 mins ago - Nutella on toast. Now I just feel guilty! I'm OK when I'm at my work and there's no temptation, but in the evenings I can't control myself!! Sad

I have a cross-trainer sitting gathering dust, really need to start using it! My goals are too unrealistic I think - baby steps. Think I will try to use the cross-trainer this week sometime. Not setting myself a goal on how long, just using it, even once will make me feel better.

So I'm aiming to lose 50lb - 3.5stone rounded to a nice number. Will weigh my self tomorrow and start tracking on My Fitness Pal. Hope I can stick to it this time...

Haha snap Wannabe, I have an exercise bike which is most often used as an airer for wet washing Blush I'm thinking it would be a good way to ease myself into regular exercise. Evenings are my downfall as well, especially in the after-work-before-dinner period.

You've reminded me Elsa, I should probably buy a pair of scales! I hope I can stick to this too. I figured if I posted my progress online, it would push me into continuing and progressing.

I've failed before I've even begun - it's DH's birthday tomorrow and I have wine chilling ready, and a cake for him too....will try not to go OTT, maybe save the cross-trainer til Wednesday night though....

Hello everyone! We seem to be a group of evening pickers as I'm the same.

Have just finished a 13 hour shift - have eaten really well but was starving by the time I got home. Have had half a tin of tomato soup and two slices of toast!! Overall I've been ok today though.

I have a stone to lose (1.5 would be great though). Am planning on weighing myself every Friday. Would anyone like to join a weekly weigh in?

Weekly weigh in sounds great, Fantastic. I'll definitely join you with that.

Brilliant Elsa. My first weigh in day is going to be this Friday morning Shock

Can I join in as well please? I'd lost nearly a stone (albeit very slowly over the last few months) - just got on the scales this morning and have put 4 lbs back on. It seems to go on a lot easier than it comes off!! I've been working a lot more shifts than usual and keep eating more 'to keep my strength up' ha ha

Would like to lose 7 lbs and then stay there - for me that's the hard part!!

I'm hoping to lose 2 stone. My first target is to lose as much as I can in the next 8 weeks as I have an operation coming up that will put me in crutches. Every lb I can lose will be a bonus.

I actually started 2 weeks ago, had a tricky first week with birthdays etc and a good week last week. I'm in the zone.

Oh can I join? I have no scales yet so weigh ins might be a bit tricky but I will buy some soon when I work out where to put them so the kids don't break them again!

I have 1 stone to lose (having lost 2 stone already) but I am finding it really hard. I look okay now and most of my old clothes fit so I don't have the same motivation but I am still properly fit and healthy so I really need to keep going.

I can't face anymore logging calories on MFP etc so I just want to eat sensibly, no snacking and do my 10,000 step everyday with 1 (hopefully 2) swimming sessions.

Yes! Welcome to you both - the more the merrier. I'm working another 13 hour shift today so have all my food with me - my danger time is when I get home. I'm usually so tired but starving - it will be about 9.30 so is too late to eat really but I always do! My plan is some cut up veg and hummus ....!

Can I join please? I had a baby last November (also have a 4-year-old) and had great intentions to start losing weight in January but it just hasn't happened! I'm breastfeeding and constantly hungry - well, that's my excuse anyway! I really need to do something now though - I have 2 stone to lose and am fed up of wearing maternity clothes.

Can I join too? I need to lose (at least) 2.5 stone. I have a family reunion coming up in August where people will be taking loads of photos and I just can't stand to have people posting pictures of me looking like this! I have a fitbug to track my activity and just started MFP. I haven't dared step on a scale in ages, but I'll make sure to do it on Friday.

Hello new posters, all welcome, the more the merrier as Fantastic said. Friday weigh-in sounds like a great idea if I can get my hands on a pair of scales... I'm going to measure myself too. I'm 176cm so I can pull off a bit of extra weight more easily than if I was shorter as it's got more to spread out on, but I've gradually crept into overweight and I'm not happy about it! I want to lose 35lbs in 5lb instalments (is that the right word?).

I did well at lunch (soup, yoghurt and tangerine), but one of my students gave me a bar of Ovomaltine (the best chocolate you'll ever eat, thank god I don't live in Switzerland! You can't buy it here) and I think I'll try to have a little bit each day, but really I can't predict that yet... I'm considering half an hour on the exercise bike while Hollyoaks is on so I won't feel guilty!

Umm......... I need to jump off the wagon here as I've just found out I'm pregnant!! So I'm assuming my weigh-ins will start going the wrong way soon.........

Good luck everyone, I'll be back on in 9 months to see how you're all doing Wink

Congrats Wannabe and hello to anyone new.

I've had a good day today. Hoping for another tomorrow. Is anyone going to follow a particular plan? I didn't 5:2 diet last year and the weight fell off - can't get back into it though.

Report
WhenMarnieWasThere · 03/03/2015 23:04

I can't do 5:2. I do better if I don't start eating until really late. Then it becomes a bit of a head-wreck about whether I eat at all. For me, I think it could be a bit dangerous. Then I struggle to stop eating when I start if I've not eaten all day.

I'm doing ww - but the old plan on my own at home. I got to goal a few years ago on the old plan and haven't had much success on the new one. I've tried several times and can't quite work out why it isn't working. So I'm doing the old points and am in the zone with it. 2.5lb lost last week on my first proper week.

Basically, I have a small breakfast (or no breakfast as I have to make myself eat it as it's not my habit to), a lunch of soup or salad with fruit and a cereal bar then a decent but healthy dinner. I usually leave a few points for a bit of a treat. Tonight it was an eat natural bar. Or it might be a caramel freddo. Or a both of dry cereal to snack on like crisps. It seems to be working, so I'm sticking with it.

I need something that I will stick with and that will work. For at least until my op and for the time I'm on crutches not being very active.

Can I join as well? I started on Saturday! It's going quite well, except for this horrid weather! I went on a 3 mile walk today and by the time I got back, I was so cold my hands weren't working properly and I had to use them both to open the bloody door! Good thing I wasn't stranded out there as there's a Costa right opposite Wink.

I'm doing no-carbs, as it has enough flex to have a good meal out with a few treats, while sticking to the rules. Right now, M&S's mini packets of cheese are all that's keeping me going!

TheLightPrincess on MFP if anyone wants to add me, so I can stalk their diet and nick healthy meal/snack ideas.
