Anybody else pregnant and not want to end up gaining 3 stone?

Just found out I am pg with no 3. My first two pregnancies resulted in very healthy babies but a very fat mummy.

DS1 - gained in excess of 4 stone
DS2 - started off well but still ended up putting on more than 3 stone

I don't know why I get so bleeding lardy, and I hate it. My morning sickness bizarrely needs to be fed (quite literally) otherwise it is totally unmanageable.

Anybody else out there like me?

No solutions to offer, but congratulations! Are you still on your travels? When are you due back in the UK?

Hi dejags - congratulations

I was determined not to put on the 3 stone I put on with DS when I was pg with DD .... ended up putting on 4 stone

I have always been a 'weight watcher' and used my pregnancy with DS to eat anything and everything ... ... so got lardier and lardier. So I thought, with DD, that being aware of that I wouldn't put on so much weight as I would be careful. I am almost certainly sure that I was more careful, and I certainly didn't use being pregnancy as an excuse to eat ... but for some reason I still put on tons of weight

If you come up with a solution I may consider having Number 3 ....

BTW - were you babies bigger than normal? (mine were over 10lbs) and did you manage to lose the weight pretty successfully afterwards? I am one of those women that CANNOT lose weight while breastfeeding (lose the baby weight but not the excess) ... within a week of giving up breastfeeding the weight falls off (so lost my weight quickly after DS as I didn't bf for long but as I bfed DD for 10 months I didn't lose the weight until she was 12 months old)

Hi Ghosty,

I lose weight fairly easily but was am starting this pregnancy a stone heavier than my last [arrrrgghh].

I eat like a piggy when pg so this time I am determined to change the pattern.

Earlybird - yes we are still travelling, so a bit of a surprise but a good one nonetheless. We'll be back in a month, so good timing all in all.

oh and babies were both average - DS1 8.10 and DS2 8.5. I was tested for gestational diabetes second time round because I was so huge and carried a lot of fluid - but that test was negative.

dejags this is one of the reasons I don't want to be pregnant again - I have to eat carbs (bread, biscuits, crackers etc )to stave off constant nausea and end up putting 3 stone on. If you find a solution let me know!

congratulations!
I am 27 weeks pg with no.3 and have alrady put on 2 and a half stones. The first trimester was the worst (when you're not supposed to put much on) and I got big really quickly. It seems to have slowed down now but I expect to possibly put on another stone by the end.
I eat healthy meals but I also snack and eat chocolate.

oh gawd, you've brought it all back to me Pollyanna.

I am tempted to take the anti-nausea medication which is readily available in South Africa to pregnant women.

Gentle Birth Method diet is supposed to be good for not gaining excess weight when pg
I'm failing to follow it fully but haven't gained any weight yet but I'm only 15 weeks
I haven't lost the weight from having DS so I started this pg about 20lb up

If you do think you're going to put on lots of weight start using Clarins body oil now. I've been using it this time (got dreadful stretchmarks in my first and second pregnancies) and despite sudden weight gain there are no marks yet.

thanks ndp.

Clarins body oil is the absolute best. I was saying to DH yesterday that I needed some. Will look when we arrive in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
