Atkins help please! Having a bit of a panic!

I am not massively overweight, I weigh 12 stone and I want to get back down to my ideal weight of 9.7 stone (which makes me a size 10 and BMI 22).

I have realised that now I am in my 30s, calorie counting doesn't seem to work like it did when I was younger (lost the three stone I gained with ds on slimfast when I was 21 in the space of three months, tried slimfast last month, followed it religiously and lost a grand total of half a pound).

Anyway, been reading up on Atkins/low carb and would like to give it a shot.

However, am having a bit of a panic. I know how the diet is supposed to work, I've measured out all my cheese/cream/salad allowance. Am eating eggs and steak today.

I just had an omelette made with two eggs, two table spoons of cream and a third of my cheese allowance. Am panicking that I will put on weight eating that?!

Any advice from other Atkins/low carb dieters would be very welcome!

If you're following Atkins properly, which it sounds like you are, you won't put on weight eating eggs, cream and cheese. It's just hard to get your head around that because we're so conditioned to believe the opposite. But it does work, so keep the faith!

May I suggest you have a look at the Bootcamp threads? All low carbers, all doing great. Loads of support too. (Plus we don't weigh or measure anything, except ourselves Grin)

Thanks, have found the threads and am having a read through.

After years of counting calories, recoiling in horror at the thought of cream or cheese it just feels wrong even though I understand the science behind it!
