Has anyone tried the Anna Richardson 'Body Blitz diet'?

After afew stressful weeks and far too much alcohol, and sweet things, I am feeling decidely bloated and unhealthly. Would love to lose afew pounds before my holiday in 4 weeks, and was flicking through the Anna Ricahrdson book (bought in January - never tried!), and wondered if this diet was what I needed. Has anyone tried it? was it a success or pure hell? And did you put the weight on as soon as you finished the diet? Would love to know thanks xx

Heres am amazing fact: diets suck. They are by definition unnatural.

Loseing weight without damageing your health is sadly old fashioned: eat less junk, do more aerobic workouts.

Try the 'Day off' diet: eat 'normally' for six days (Keep your calorie intake as low as manageable) and eat what you want on the seventh. If your eating well for the other six, you wont feel like so much sweetness, and the calorie spike helps the metabolism. In Theory.

Google it

I agree about diets I try to avoid them at all costs, but just felt like trying this one, as it seemed mostly common sense, and I only want to lose 4-5 lbs, just can't seem to manage it!

The problem is that there is no such thing as a 'natural' diet. The modern western diet is not good for us (look at all the ill people around). Fresh 'uncooked food'is healthier than most.

Agree that diets don't work....however I did the 2 week body blitz in the run up to my dsis wedding and lost 8lb in 2 weeks. I could have lost more but did lose focus in the final 2 days

I actually didn't find it too hard - the principle being that you only pretty much eat fruit, veg, meat, fish etc and cut out wheat, dairy, booze, sugar and don't have carbs after 6pm.

If you chose your meals wisely, you won't end up feeling hungry. I had porridge and fruit for breakfast, a salad/soup for lunch and fish/chicken with loads of veg or rice for dinner.

It's a good way to kick start a healthy eating plan imo, as well as shedding a few pounds quickly for a particular event.

Yes detox that does sound healthy and more sensible than most diets.

Hi. I did try this diet, and it really works! The good thing is that you don't really diet, you just eat healthy, with limits. For me the hardest part is to say no to the sweets, cakes and chocolate, but when it is only for two weeks, it is worth to give it a go! However, don't go back to usual eating habits after you finish this diet, stick to the plan Anna offers in the end of the book - you are allowed to get some of your favorites back to your menu and actually you will realise, that after two weeks you body wants only what is good for it. And whenever you want to loose more wight - go back to 2-week regime. It worked for me, for my sis and my husband loves new recipes, I tried from the book. The salmon with stir-fried vegs is the favorite of his (he never liked fish before) and my 2-year-old (he usually don't like my cooking) :)
So, even if diets are not good for you, this one will be, if you really willing to go to healthy eating. Try eat, there's nothing to loose, as you won't get more pounds even if you go back to your own eating habits.

I have this book and try to stick to the principles 80% of the time and I'm steadily losing weight. I wouldn't say it's a diet really(apart from if you are giving up alcohol/wheat etc. for the first two weeks)-it's just a sensible way of eating fresh healthy food-how we should eat really.

The recipes I have tried are all delicious. My favourites are the lamb tagine/beef casserole/Butternut squash and coconut soup/Balsamic salmon. None of the recipes are difficult.

I have to say I'm a real fan of Anna Richardson's Body Blitz. Started it back in September and having lost 8lbs in the first 2 weeks (the strict bit) have tried to keep to the main principles since. Am now a much happier 20lb lighter (despite properly celebrating a big birthday and Christmas) and have started working on the next stone.

As a failed WeightWatcher, Slimming Worlder etc I would say give it a go! Realise everyone's different, but it's working for me.

Resurrecting this very old thread but I'm starting this from today. Is anyone doing it just now ? The recipes in the book look great without the ingredients list being ridiculous.

I'm giving it a whirl, will check in next week hopefully a few pounds lighter. I like the soups and super quick recipies.

Hi patchwork. The recipies look great don't they. It's not revolutionary stuff talking about cutting out sugar, wheat and dairy but I like the way it's straight to the point and most of the book is dedicated to recipe ideas.

Hi, I'm doing it at the moment. First time I did it I lost 15lb in 2 weeks and didn't put anything back on when I came off. I put that down to having 1 piece of bread everyday, usually as toast for my breakfast as I don't really like porridge and for the last half of the 2nd week I introduced half a jacket potato aswell as the bread. Obviously if you do this diet 100% then come off & eat things you weren't allowed on it like potatoes, bread, pasta etc then you will put the weight back on. I also did this diet twice more for 1 week only each time & lost 5lb each time :)

Hi everyone, I've started this again (Did it a couple of years ago) and just need my memory jogging...does anyone know how many snacks you can eat each day? Thanks :)

Hi Stepmum, I started this plan on Sunday (after lots of bread, cheese and wine over the holidays!), am really enjoying it so far and not needing to snack tbh. But I think you can have 2 small snack a day if needed.
