And this;

Any other suggestions?

I'm about 5" 6/7', just under 10 stone and take a size 10. But not at all toned (and that's not going to happen).

I don't want spaghetti straps, I prefer the 2nd dress for the coverage of the top, but preferred the colour of the first (slight pinkish blush to it).
I'd wear the jacket with either.

Then shoes!!! I don't do heels so no idea what to wear.

The first one looks more sophisticated. Wear pearls.

Both lovely.
Hotter shoes Donna. I bought anaqua pair of these for a wedding last year. They weren't too high and they were very comfortable on the day. I also wear flats most of the time. They have then. In different shades including off white and taupe which is more creamy, pale pink. The second pair are in the sale at £42. When I was in they had handbags to match too if you want a bag. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day.

I personally love the second dress, but the first one is probably trendier (I am not a style queen by any measure).

Thanks, will look at hotter (tbh I mostly wear trainers and boots!).
The jacket is only available in a 6 for the 2nd one, which probably rules it out although I've asked for an email alert in case it comes back in.

Any suggestions of other dresses I might like based on these?

A vintage dress. Someone I know bought a calf length lacy dress in London. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

You could have a silk chiffon shawl to wear over either of those dresses. You could consider getting a dressmaker to make you a jacket. Not always as expensive as you might think.

Thanks Ditsy (and for the pm - I'll have a look at those)

They are both lovely but I prefer the second, what kind of flowers are you having and are you wearing anything in your hair?

Perhaps more 50s than 40s but have you looked at Kitty and Dulcie?

I love them both and am doing something similar for my wedding (I'm 50)

The two dresses are great and it just depends on your body shape. If you are an 8/hourglass maybe go with the first. If you are closer to an H go with the second. Re heels, I am not sure I would wear either of them without as it might put a little frumpy twist on the outfit... Unless you go for bright colors/neon pointy flats? If you want flats maybe go go for a dress that is a bit more A-line and shorter (just on/right above the knee). Otherwise a t-strap medium heel would look great with the first dress! Simple straps for the second, maybe even block heels/platforms.

I'd go for the most comfy and I'd go for comfy shoes too. BlushConfused

What's your budget? This is lovely.

That really is lovely, not sure I want to spend that much on something I'll only wear once! Although I only wore my 1st wedding dress once and with that there us at least a possibility of wearing it again, but then I think 1st wedding dress was AU $750 so a fair bit cheaper.

I think I'm going to have to go with heels, although reasonably low. There was a pair in Coast that they got me to try on with them just to give the bit of height, and it did look far better than without.

I'm torn, I prefer the style of the 1st but when I put it on it felt 'constricting' over the top, not too tight as it fitted fine just constricting, and I preferred the colour of the 2nd with the pinkish blush to it (you can't really see that on the links). The 2nd didn't fit quite so well, I tried on the 8 and that looked OK until I moved - it was defiantly too tight, but the 10 was ever so slightly too roomy.

I'll go shopping again next weekend ☺

You could buy the 10 and get it altered to fit you perfectly.

I saw this in Monsoon the other day and thought it was lovely. A little bit less restrictive at the top than your first link too. I think it would need a heel, though not too much of one...

That looks good, I'll find a monsoon this weekend. I did look at a few that were all lave like that and wasn't quite so taken with them as my first 2. I do like the top on that one though.

OK, so I thought you meant 40s for the style, but would still like to recommend Lindy Bop and Collectif clothing for vintage style (wedding) dresses. I went for a swing dress but they do quite a few pencil/ body con (more fitted iyswim, not sure what they're called) styles as well. Also check out Pin Up Couture - Ava!

I tried on this today and really liked it.
I'd need to get it altered as the 10 was too big on the waist but the 8 too tight on the hips.
Then went and tried on the 1st coast one again and I "think" I prefer this one.
