The severe weather in Southern France

I know that MN doesnt just cover a British audience and that perhaps the exceptional severe weather in the Var region of France may be affecting some mners (plus it is a popular holiday destination - we are going there in August)

As you'll have seen on the news exceptional flooding has taken place. Meteo france says that 40cm of rain has fallen since Tuesday. bbc report

My understanding is that it is a result of the unusual weather patterns that Europe has been experiencing throughout the winter and now into the summer. We are dry - reaching drought conditions with cool north-easterly winds. In the mean time southern Europe is being dominated by a large low bringing unsettled wet conditions.

really good description of the weather causing this event - I've had to put it through google translate as my French isnt that good. Seems like a reasonable translation.

It will be rather good when weather patterns return to normal.

The waether has been very odd, I was in Scotland last week on holiday and drove past a few reservoirs, they were really low for the time of year.

And I know that they are talking about the North West region probably having to introduce hose pipe bans sooner rather than later, and needing 3 mionths of wet weather to get stores back to normal!

crumbs. there is something wrong when we aren't able to manage our water supplies year after year.

my waterbutts are practically empty. Will have to move on to grey water for the garden soon. (groan)

Saw a report on this on the 6pm news. The flooding has been awful and there's no sign of the rain stopping.
