met office

Some potential for gusts of 70mph, perhaps even inland over night in the south. Heavy rain too. Likely to be travel disruption for those who want to cross the channel tomorrow.

Been very squally here all day.

Tonight's ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe has already been cancelled.

We have got an amber warning now for West Sussex.

it looks really rather nasty now. Its going to take a lot of people unawares - there will be trees down and some minor damage to unlucky property.

Rather feel for any campers.

Blowing a gale out there.

DP is not only a tree surgeon, but specialist power line tree surgeon. Guessing he will be busy tomorrow!

Fucking hell. We are in a camper van in Somerset, have had no sleep all night I am so anxious, we are blowing around. Anyone know when it might pass by?
Poor buggers in tents, some are flattened.

Wild and windy here in the south east. I'm in a house but the wind woke me up.

Ledkr I hope you and any other MN campers are ok

Hope you're ok Ledkr? I'm in Bristol - I think it should pass by about 8/9am here so should be the same for you.

I've been on call all weekend. I finish at 7am. I really, really hoping no one calls me out in the next hour!

North Hampshire here. Some terrifying gales overnight. It didn't sound like wind it sounded like a T-rex was storming down the street.

Can see some branches off trees.

Very wet here (Leicester) but not much in the way of wind. I'm Easter Shock at our temperatures though ~ we've gone from 8.5C an hour ago to 2.1C now, so we've been having snow as well in the last few minutes!

The BBC has the latest news here ~ lots of disruption in the south.
Hope you're OK Ledkr

Just outside Eastbourne & the early hours were the windiest I have ever known since living here (10 years).

Woken up at 5.30am by bedside lights going on - they are those touch switch ones & any little flicker in the supply & they turn on!

Hi all, thanks for good wishes, we survived the night but very tired, it's carnage here on site, tents shrewn all over the place, camping equipment blown around. At least we are warm and dry. I want to go home now but the Dds are looking forward to the fair, swimmkng and disco. Hmm

Glad you are OK Ledkr. Waiting to hear about some camping friends who were in the amber area.
Was a rough night last night, a lot of the town are without power.
