Including amber for part of the south.
I have never been so relieved that DS1 is ill.
There were tales of the coaches taking 2 hours to get home through the floods last night. I am not sure if he was able to go in I would get him back this afternoon.
The school nearest the bus stop was closed yesterday because nobody could get to it.
And there was me saying rain fine and no to snow.
Signing in from the West coast of Wales. The gusts of wind are
and
levels already. I was actually quite tempted to keep the boys home but then I remembered that they would fight, need feeding and hog my computer so DS1 has already gone off into the wilds on his school bus!
Oops sparkling! I really would avoid travelling in the worst of this later.
By 3pm line will be roughly Bournemouth to newcastle. By 6pm the Isle of Wight to the Wash.
Ok, got to go, made myself late
Looks like Essex misses this severe weather
Stay safe people and be cautious
Signing in once again from Leicester where it's nice and sunny at the moment but with a gusty wind.
Raintoday.co.uk is a good site for seeing where the rain is atm.
the wind is getting up.......
Jeepers, signing back in from a part of west Wales that is nearly under water. I haven't seen so much rain. Just dug out the gully at the front of the house as I'm worried the water coming down the road will come in the front garden. The little stream that occasionally floods after a lot of rain is already going over the road and that's a bit of a worry as this isn't due to stop any time soon. I am going to calm myself by making a vat of veg soup for when my boys get home.
Lost. I guess it's on it's way (Worcestershire here). Is it still blowing a gale too?
It's getting quite dark here......
Very, very windy since first thing. I was seriously worried about letting the children go to school, there are lots of branches on the roads etc and DS1 is right out in the sticks. Just going out to check the stream as well because it floods properties and I know one of my friends is at work. I'd batten down the hatches sparkling, turn on the heating and have a cup of tea!
That where the rain is website is brill, worrying though, it looks like there's so much more to come
I'm in south derbyshire. A bit breezy here but dry at the moment. Are we likely to cop it, do you reckon? <eyes wet weather gear, still saturated from yesterday>
I think you are right Lost. Ds1 is home ill, and safe and doesn't have a coach journey and I don't have to drive 6 miles to fetch him from the bus stop. DS2 goes half a mile to school on his bike so he will be ok on the cycle paths later. Phew.
It's a bit wet Don't know if you can see this but if you can it 's the road near my house
and it is still pouring.
Yikes Lost.
Have had a notification that if Ds1 had gone to school today it is shutting an hour early to get the children home by coach before the deluge presumably. Some roads are already flooded.
just picked up and Environment Agency warning that homes at Billing Aquadrome are being evacuated, with around 1000 people affected, and the Nene in that area of Northants is on flood alert due to more rain being forecast for this evening.
a pretty hairy weekend ahead it seems
how's today for you drmelons?
Lost ~ looking at the metoffice, it does look like Wales will have more rain and it'll last for most of the day as well
Here in Leicester, the wind's definitely got up and it keeps going dark but then brightens up again. Think I'm going to check everything's weighted down in the garden.
Popping in briefly! (cant keep me away!)
some signs of organisation I think on the latest radar. I think that perhaps it looks a little slower in the SW but I'm pushed for time and can't be sure.
squall line appearing off the sw coast now.
bit of a heads up for Saturday evening for the south - potential for a severe wind event. I will post more later (hopefully!)
Ok, stay safe and dry folk! Catch up with you later!
tyvm for the info kitten
Have a good afternoon, OYBBK.
You can see that squall line moving in on that 'rain today' website.
Metoffice warnings for Saturday and Sunday. DD1's supposed to be going to London with a school club on Saturday, by train from Leicester station. If she even makes it down there, she's going to get drenched!
>95% chance of heavy rain
=100% chance of having to go the long way tonight as the river was over yesterday and there are huge puddles in the fields.
Grrrr I spend enough on petrol as it is
it's that sort of thing we need this extra information for, isn't it, Start?
with fuel costing so much, it's hard to keep reserves in the tank 'just in case'
I'm in Leicestershire. It's very windy and my garden fence has just blown over. We had flooding on our estate yesterday too.
I tend to have a fairly full tank as I fill it when I'm somewhere cheaper.
I live in the sort of place where you drive everywhere.
I was just annoyed yesterday, that hadn't realised it had rain so much that both back roads would be flooded.
If I had, I'd have turned the other way from my house and saved a whole lot of going round in circles.
Fields are really wet and wind thinking about blowing harder.
Will not be nice tonight
