After a few half hearted attempts with purees, i wondered iof she would be more interested in fiddling with food. Today was our first day of BLW - went v v well.

I was ridiculously pleased when DD sat munching on toast soldiers and didnt overreact when she bit off a bl**dy great big piece of carrott at tea time . She spat the bits that were too big out...just as people said she would!
so far, so good.

So tomorrow we are having a day out xmas shopping.
I need some inspirtaion for foods that can go in the bag and dont need to be refrigarated.

those mini rice cakes are good for us. dried apricots as well. also McDonalds sell those little ridiculously overpriced fruit bags which are great for on the go food. those refrigerated apple slices are nice on sore gums too. apparently. obviously i never eat at McDonalds Boots sell little rusks that are finger shaped, much better than the Farleys ones.

rice cakes for the bag and then just give her a bit of what you're having.

i would take fruit maybe a banana or a ripe pear. otherwise, like aitch says, give her whatever you have.. a sandwich? will you stop off at a cafe for lunch? get something you'd be happy giving her a bit of.

GUess i imagined that youd 'work up to' real food IYSWIM.

Hmmm ok...i think!
I had thought about putting some fruit slices in a tub - maybe need to buy some rice cakes...see if she likes them

if you go to a cafe she can happily chomp a teacake or bread from your sandwich (with or without the filling depending how salty etc it is) or even a chip. honest

well you can call it a piece of fried potato if it will make you feel better, UD.

fruit is good, deffo, although ime banana is a pita when out and about. i seem to remember taking tubs of steamed carrot, and cucumber and melon out with me.

hoorah! stick to bread crusts rather than bread just yet, it can go a bit claggy.

really don't worry about taking too much, (unless you are packing a picnic for yourselves) just think about where you could go out for lunch that would do okay good for lo to munch on.
I used to get my local sandwhich bar to serve up a sandwhich in bits so i would get the bread + butter, the bits of avocado, the prawns and the salad all served up separately on a plate. Ds munched away at what he wanted as did I. Sometines we would have a pannini instead. As it is quite squishable it was very easy for ds to eat

As its only day 2 I wouldnt really worry but if you do want to take something then take some fruit and pop to Boots for rice cakes/organic rusk things.

hearing you all talk abotu your BLW experiences and eating out is a very positive thing. You make it sound so very easy...and makes me feel excited at the prospect of it.

totally agree with pannacotta. if you don't get a chance for a sit-down, orchide, don't worry, just give her milk if it's easier.

Everyione who replied yesterday - thankyou.
Went out today....she had some bread from my pannini which she lurved, i took some fruit and also bought some rice cakes which also went down well.
So, day 2 of BLW combined with day at the trafford centre OMG...how much traffic?!....went well. Thanks for your advice and reassurance.
