Are there stock cubes suitable for babies

Does anyone know if there are any stockcubes on the market for babies?
Just realised my 7 month old ate casserole form my plate, made with the ordinary ones!!

Normal stock tends to be quite high in salt - so look out for low salt ones - marigold boullion do one, which you can often get in normal supermarkets.

I used a Swiss Marigold reduced salt version - it doesn't come in cubes, it comes in powder. Tesco stock it, but sometimes they put it with the gluten free bits, sometimes with the rest of the stocks. Purple tub, I think. I still use it as stock for soup.

Does that Swiss Marigold one still have peanut in? When I looked a couple of years ago for DS1 it did and I avoided peanuts for a year or so because of allergy risk. Although that might not be a concern for you of course

Ive got a Kallo Organic one at the moment. It was just with the normal stockcubes. I usually use the Swiss Marigold one though as it's really tasty.

Thanks...i'll try to get some of that tomorrow, wee one enjoyed my casserole and homemade soup! We had been struggling with veg purees prior to that!

Waitrose do the Kallo organic ones, have not found them or any other low-salt ones in other supermarkets as yet!

I've got Kallo organic cubes in my cupboard and I can't remember where I bought them. I couldn't find them in Tesco last time I looked. I can only assume it was Holland & Barrett.

There is a Heinz version in larger Boots, in baby food section, on the bottom shelf in a pouch like cat food pouches. But it's tiny and expensive (I think it was about £1.60) and would be useless for soups or risotto but perhaps big enough for a slow cooked casserole, in which case plain old water would get enough flavour.

for most things, plain water is fine - even your own chicken casserole. Stock cubes are mostly salt and herbs anyway!

Ahem, could you make your own?

I realise this is not what you're asking, and I usually use the Marigold low salt one myself, but making stock is the easiest thing in the world and a fine way to use up old vegetables.

The Marigold low salt one does still have a fair amount of salt in it. I bought it for my DD2 and was surprised - ended up not using it.

I use the Kallo Organic one. IIRC it doesn't actually have any salt added at all according to the list of ingredients. Any salt/sodium is just what's in the ingredients naturally.
