BLW question...

"They" say that when weaning onto purees you should introduce one new food at a time and wait for 3 days to see if the baby has any reaction to each food. Does the same apply when doing BLW? What did you start with?

you probably should... although even with purees i didn't always find that massivly practical after the first few weeks

you could start with steamed veg one at a time though

try not to get too stressed about it all, the joy of BLW is that it is so much simpler and easier than purreeing.

if your waiting til 6 months most food are much safer anyway so you don't have to be as rigid with introducing foods.

the only ones i'd keep an eye on and introduce seperately would be the main allergens; dairy, gluten (introduce wheat later than other gluten foods if possible), celery, tomatoes, etc.

the blog has some literature on what order to introduce foods in n allergy prone family but if you have no family history i wouldn't worry too much and try and just go witht he flow.

you'll find for the first month or more your dc won't eat a massive amount of anything anyway as it takes them a little while to learn how to manipulate food into they mouths in any great quantities

Apparently it isn't necessary with BLW. However I would advice to do so if you are concerned about allergies or have them in the family.

I started off slowly but soon started giving my dd exactly what we had.

Have a look at my diary if you go back to november on the post history that is where we started.

There is also an allergy sectio if you want to read up more about what to avoid.

Hope that helps x

likewise on www.babyledweaning.com you can see what we started with if you look at the finger foods sections. although to be honest i note that i didn't keep to an allergy schedule because i hadn't seen them. i think i kept away from strawbs, kiwi and eggs to begin with. and i did try to introduce things slowly at first, but then i got over-excited and forgot all about it.

I've tried blw and ds insists on picking up the food and putting it into my mouth. Now I've acquired a taste for finger food. He insists we feed him our dinner later.

oh god yes, dd is forever feeding me her unwanted cherry tomatoes. i think it's cute, though. raisins she often changes her mind about ans tries to fish them back out of my mouth.
