BLW - does dd (10months) do it wrong

I don't want to start another discussion on the pros and cons of BLW, just curious to hear whether anyone's dc's did this:
Dd (10m) gets stick of carot, broccoli, pasta (rigatoni so easy to hold) and small bits of chicken.
She stuffes her mouth bit by bit, chews on it but doesn't swallow it all to the point that her mouth is completely full. And then she pukes it out in a big fountain together with some milk she had earlier. This is not the first time, she just doesn't seem to get the concept of taking a bit, chewing it and then swallowing and then over again.
Any comments on this? oh, she has 4 teeth btw

chop it into bite sized bits for her? Ds2 does this when he's very hungry - he doesn't figure that he needs to swallow before he can put any more in.

Also, try giving her one bit at a time.

She is still learning, she'sll get there.

It's chopped into small chunks but bigger than bitesize as it would be too tricky to handle if too small. Even if she has only one piece she stuffes her mouth and doesn't chew properly. Sometimes she sucks on food which is probably perfectly fine if she would take it out of her mouth rather than putting in more on top.
Do you give raw carots? Seems like they might be too hard to chew for my dd.

Try only giving one bit at a time and not giving more until she has swallowed? Little cousin used to do this - we used to call him hamster pouch!

yes that's exactly it, like a hamster ;-)
Will try to give her less and see if she can manage better without almost choking...

I don't give raw carrots, I think they are a crap food for babies. I can't digest them, never mind a baby!

Might have to boil them next time.
Haha, it was funny yesterday that she didn't want to give up her food, even after she had puked most of it out. Still mouth full and no way would she give it up

i used to give big chunks of raw carrots as a teether but if i wanted her to be able to eat it i steamed it til actually pretty squashy. dd did a bit of hamster activity too, i agree with WJ that giving one piece at a time might help with that. remember it really isn't about eating at this stage, just playing and learning.
