We got a fisher price healthy high chair from argos, which is great cos the back reclines and ds has grown out of his bouncy chair and not sitting up yet independently and the height is adjustable. hth

Chicco Polly is a good one, although quite pricey. Depends what your requirements are. Some of the more expensive ones don't fold away very compactly, but some of the cheaper ones from Mothercare are very compact. I got ours from Ebay - it is an ex-Babies R Us called Baby Smile, and although it is pretty good, I wish I'd seen it first because it doesn't fold up very neatly. If your baby is still quite young (

quootie's right, the tripp-trapp and the ikea antilop are both at the opposite ends of the price scale but excellent and EASY TO CLEAN. which is the most important consideration, as you will find...

I have the IKEA antilop.
Brilliant high chair IMHO.
Really easy to clean, dd has always looked comfortable in it and dismantles quickly and easily for transport

me too, scroogle. and you can put it in the shower on the days when it just needs a good scrub. they are £15.80 at the moment, isn't it weird how the price goes up and down?

I secondfluffy animal we got a fisher price healthy high chair from the nct sale and its fab. You could try a second hand sale or ebay to limit your choices as it is so darned confusing.

I have a toys r us one that is a nightmare to clean despite looking like it would be a breeze, this time round as my son has weaned at 6 months and can sit up unaided I have bought a fisherprice booster seat, making sure that the base part was easy to clean, one piece of moulded plastic going several inches up the back too, no creveases for food to be mushed into.

It means we can all sit round the table and his older brother 3.5 is still in a booster seat as he is a fidget bum in a normal chair.

If you do go for a highchair I can recommend the polly one as it has that plastic crotch thing that means the little monkeys can't slide as far down in the chair when they get older. But check the height, although they are adjustable it doesn't mean they can fit under your table so you may be upgrading to an alternative sooner than you think. The arms on mine prevent it being pushed under the table. Hence booster.

If money was no object, I would definitely get tripp trapp.

another vote for tripp trapp - we have 2 and will get another for dd3 when she is old enough. dd1 is 5 and still uses her. no nooks or crannies to clean and looks v v nice. can eat at table as well

when I was childminding I had the Ikea one mentioned, it's also quite fabby and looks good too. legs come off if you need to tuck it away somewhere
tripp trapp worth their money I think - these reclining thingamajigies are nearly as expensive and they have a shelf life but Tripp Trapp can use foreverrrrrrrrr!!

The folding ones with lots of padding are a nightmare to clean. If you have room I would recommend the older style ones that also have a table underneath so can be used as a low chair and table as well. Found it really useful. Think they are in Argos about 39.99. Use mine even now and DS's are 3and 5 ( table and chair part) good for arts and crafts, lazy lunches, etc.

Ikea one - I had friends who bought different expensive ones and then the cheap ikea one and recommeneded it to me. It is light and easy to clean - the best, If only my mother woudl have listened - she insisted one getter a more expensive one for when her granddaughter comes to stay and she won't sit in it! Ikea wins for us!

I was sceptical when everyone suggested the Ikea one. The only reason I brought was because DP saw all teh recommendations over my shoulder and I couldn't justify £100 for my second choice (Chicco Polly).

I only agreed on hte basis that it was only £15 so I wouldn't mind throwing it away when I got my own way and brought the Chicco.

Been using it nearly 2 months and I have no plans to buy the Chicco .

Whats £15 if you don't like it?

It is also pretty portable - so we will be taking it on our travels at X-Mas so there will be no tantrums with unfamiliar chairs.

We have the cosatto one which folds in half and totally flat, it's fab for hiding in the cupboard and taking away at weekends although am having trouble with grubby straps, but I reckon every high chair would have that problem
