I started weaning my 6 month old a few weeks ago and have been doing it slowly. He now has 2 or 3 solids a day but still is on 5 bottles of 210 mls a day. Routine is:-
9am - 210ml milk and sometimes porridge
1.30pm - pureed veg and fruit
2pm - 210ml milk (try to give him a bit less now, leave about 2oz in bottle)
6.30pm - pureed veg/fruit and rice or porridge
7pm - 210ml milk (trying to give less)
8pm - bed
12midnight - 210ml milk
4.30/5am - 200ml milk
Am I giving him too much milk? I have tried to cut down the milk after the solids but he seems to really want it and is very greedy. I would love him to only have one dream feed not two but don't know how to cut this down as he does cry at those times for milk. Should I make the daytime feeds closer together? He is a big baby (91st percentile) so I am worried I am over feeding him - if so, how do I cut it down without distressing him? Please help!
