1st birthday party food

Just trying to think ahead for a change, as DS is now 10 and a half months. What can we offer the babies to eat as party food. Can they have jelly and ice-cream or are they still too young? Any other suggestions please.

Hi - we found that the babies didn't actually eat that much!

We did little sandwiches, Organix "crisps", chopped up fruit and of course, birthday cake!

Personally, I wouldn't give jelly and ice-cream, but then I'm a bit fussy about what the dds eat, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would think it fine. DD2 is 19mths and I've only really started giving her ice-cream in the last month or so. She still hasn't had jelly.

I'm also fussy with DS's food. For his 1st b'day party we did: stawberries (halved), grapes (halved), breadsticks, 'chips' of mild cheddar, melon, cucumber & carrot sticks, mini-shredded wheats, cherry toms (halved)...there was bday cake too, but no jelly etc.

We had fruit for the babies and sanwiches and buscuits for the adults. And cake of course.

Ds ate all the strawberies and spat out the cake

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I'll steer clear of the jelly, but perhaps get some of that Fresh Daisy Smoothie Ice Cream or make some ice lollies.
