Alcohol in cooking for babies?

No I'm not planning on giving my 8mth old a beer with his tea , BUT, I have made a stew with some guiness in & wondered whether the cooking process removes the alcohol & makes it OK to give to babies? Sorry if this is a really dumb question but I didn't think of giving it to my son but my DH thinks it would be OK so now I'm curious.

Alcohol boils off at a much lower temperature than water does - if the soup cooked a tiny bit after the guiness was put in, then the booze is long gone. And anyway, alcohol content under 1% is neutralised by stomach acids, from what I know.

i asked this question a while back and am relieved to report that the consensus was that it was absolutely fine.

I know the science says it's okay, but I hover over dinner (that ds will be eating) with some red wine and it just feels wrong y'know?!

So next time I just slosh it in anyway and all will be fine?

I amde lamb stew with red wine in it a few weeks ago. It wasn't until half way through giving it to the boys that I rememebered the wine content! They thoroughly enjoyed it tho.
