Weaning - help!

DS is just 6mo and my inclination has been to make plain fruit/veg purees for him as a start to weaning. He has a few tastes and seems to be enjoying the whole process. He seems off his milk feeds a bit but I keep offering his usual amounts so he can have what he wants.
Prior to this stage I had assumed I would do BLW with finger foods but now we're here I can't make myself put down eg toast fingers for him.
Has anyone else started out like this (oddly under confident reminiscent of early BF days!!) and then relaxed into it? I've been following the threads on MN and most people seem so keen to start but I am just fretting over it!

Yes! I was nervous about giving finger foods to begin with, so started with pureed fruit and veg. After a month or so we were doing a mixture of both. You don't have to commit to either camp (purees vs blw); doing a mixture gives you the best of both worlds.

I second what happy said , you'll become more confident as time goes on , you can also get those little net containers that have a handle on like a dummy so that baby can't bite a chunk off x
