Weaning

Almost 10 month old has decided to blw and feed herself.

She's been weaned on a mixture of spoon feeding and blw but this last week has seen a steady decline in her willingness to take a spoon! This co-incides with her increased ability to bum shuffle so might be an independence thing.

Anyone else experience this? I don't mind tbh, in many ways its great - although her wanting to hand feed herself porridge ended up with me picking it out of her eyebrows!

DS was about the same age when he started that, I think. Now at 13 months, he refuses to let me put a spoon anywhere near him! It's amazing how much they can get down them though - he has casseroles, lasagne, curry, soggy cornflakes, beans, rice, spaghetti... I think he prob gets a lot of the goodness through his skin as he rubs it all over his face then grinds it in a bit for good measure!

Dd2 did that from 6 months, she started accepting spoons from our plates again around 11 months. She just feeds herself, mainly with her hands and eats whatever we are having with lower salt (16 months old now).
