Started weaning my little boy who is nearly 5 months he has taken to it really well but he seems to not be having enough milk through the day as he has started waking up twice in the night for a bottle. When I started weaning I gave a bit of baby rice after milk a couple of times a day but then he started teething and is leaving an oz or 2 at every feed and I feel like I'm back to square 1 with it all because he isn't having all his milk and I don't know wether or not to carry on weaning if he isn't having all his milk. Any advise would be much appreciated

Yes, I'd stop the weaning for a week and see how you get on. If he has started waking when he didn't before this could be because he is hungry. In reality there is very little food you can give him before 6 months that is as calorie dense as the milk, so you could be filling his tummy up with the solids but be giving him less calories, IYKWIM. The wakings could also be because his digestive system just isn't mature enough for solids yet.

When you do start again make sure he has a bottle about an hour before offering any solids, so that you know he is filling up on the milk and not the less calorie dense food.

You might also want to read this on baby rice before you offer any more.

How are you getting on now? Is he any more settled?
