My DS has recently been watching Minecraft YouTube videos and loads of them discuss various mods of one kind or another. I know from playing The Sims that not all mods are safe with regards to viruses etc so please could you recommend some mod developers that we could look at with reassurance that downloading them would not break the game or computer please!

I think the big ones tend to be OK.

What does he like to do with Minecraft? I'm a builder so I find MCEdit invaluable. Build a building, go into MCEdit, copy and paste the building lots of times! Or flatten or fill huge areas to build on. All kinds of stuff. You can also download lots of other people's buildings to place in your world.

The other really useful one is Amidst. It quickly generates a map of a seed so you can get one with the biomes you want, and have a good idea of where stuff is.
