Sorry, as the £6 a month is a huge chunk of his pocket money.

He can already text chat, the game is terraria.

I think you can send messages via the xbox but not chat in games. Get him to have a try.

he has worked out how to chat, i was just wondering if there were any other services available, but we are letting him spend it, I am sure he will get bored of having very little money soon

Rather than £6 a month consider getting him an annual membership as it's only £30 a year.

that is a major difference isn't it.
I could still charge him the £6 a month until it is paid off.

Well it depends on how much he's into it.

Live gold is a priority luxury in my house but i wouldn't buy it monthly through Xbox. Never ever hook up a card for your kid to his live account. Go to a shop and spend 18 quid for 3 months and put the code in for him to try out.

oh i hadn't thought about game time cards.

It's the same thing but in bulk and works out cheaper in the long run.

Of course it means the temptation isn't there to spend money on a card that's been hooked up.

I always get DP a years membership for Christmas. Perhaps you could get him to pay until his birthday?

Yes I did mean DP, not DS. Haha

No it's not like Facebook and very easy to keep an eye and ear on.

Yes you will get friend requests from randoms, we have a rule that they are only allowed to add RL friends and family.

I got our membership cheaper via a 3rd party. We used cdkeys

You can set his account so that you must approve all of his friends. This is how DDs is set up. She has to ask us to put a password in before she can accept a new friend request.

I've just bought xbox gold for £25 so do a google search. My dcs can now invite their friends onto their minecraft game to play with them. Which is what they wanted it for really.

I got mine from Cdkeys too, if you "like" their FB page you get a 5% discount code.
