I'm a huge fan of civ. Started with civ 4 and now moved onto 5. I loved doing the space race victory on civ 4 and cultural, but I'm not yet sure on my preferred civ 5 strategy yet, I'm still getting to grips with it. Not a huge fan of the lack of unit stacking though, that's taking some getting used too!

Started with Civ in mid 90s, hours and hours of gaming have been spent here!

Ooh me! Funnily enough I've had a game on 4 just today. I won a space race but had it on the easiest settings. Also had a strop half way through when Napoleon launched a sneak attack!
Not got 5 - is it much different?

My final year project was almost ruined by civ 2 i think it was, days wasted to that game, and loved it.

Cat Grin Got to love Napoleon. I always get pissed off when Gandhi starts war, he always sneaks up on me the bastard!

Five is different, it took me a bit to get used to it including strops and refusing to play it. Now I am used to it I really enjoy it, I was just very used to 4.

Glad to know that there are others :) DP and I play often, we've yet to finish a civ 5 game though!

Yes to Gandhi! And I always seem to end up places right next to him, however big I make the continents. How come you've never finished a 5 game yet? Is it much harder to get a victory? I might treat myself when I get paid!

We just haven't got around to it yet, we have a habit of restarting as we run out of time at the weekend to finish a game and forget what we were doing the next week! Grin

We got 5 when it was on some humble bundle sale on Steam, DP is a big fan of Steam and had saved a bit of cash for the summer sales so bought it and lots of other games :)

Love love love Civ5. Wasn't sure about it at first following from Civ4 but quickly grew to love it. My strategy is expansion/build lots & get as many wonders as possible for the culture. Never been one for military strategy.

Has anyone seen anything about the next one, Beyond Earth? Not sure about it.

Another fan here. I still spend hours of my life playing civ iv. Wondering if I should give civ v another go after reading this. Maybe I'd like it better after the expansion pack, it just didn't seem as much fun as it's predecessors.

Which version had we love the king day? That one stole a lot of my time too. miaow I also missed a first by 2 marks, but in my case it was more to do with thinking that vodka was a useful aid to revision. Luckily I hadn't discovered Civ back then or I wouldn't have a degree at all.

I still sometimes dust out my old edition of civ. I love it! Can't justify buying a newer one though. I hardly ever have any time to play anymore Sad
