Hello

As mummy of a 2 year old cocker spaniel we are coming to Sandbanks for a weeks holiday from next week. I have found out that the part of the beach on which dogs are permitted is between the promenade and the ferry but what kind of beach is that? Is it sandy like the rest of the strip? I have tried to find photos or maps but no luck. Are dogs allowed on the ferry at Studland or Brownsea Island? Where is a good place for walkies?

Thanks in advance

Amanda and PADDY

That stretch of the beach is sandy, with a few rocks to clamber over. Actually it's my favourite bit but i won't use it with the DC because of the dogs.
Brownsea & Studland are National trust so their website should have all the details. From memory i think Brownsea is no dogs. Parts of Studland you can take dogs. O lovely walk, not actually on the beach, is from the Bankes Arms pub out to Old Harry Rocks (about a mile each way)

Have a look here for lots of the abbreviations used on the site. Actually DC isn't on it - dear/darling children.

I'nm not a local now, but I was for a few years, and go back whenever I can Have a good trip.
