Trying to find a not too expensive room for 5 the night of the 21st June near Standon, we have a christening to go to on the 22nd at 10am and as we live in Kent as DH is having chemo want to go up the night before. Any help very much appreciated, thanks

Not exactly what you asked for - but might work. High Hedges

Triplets, problem is I can't think of anywhere that takes 5 in a room. I checked out the sites of the local travel lodge type places and the Stansted Hotels and they were all 4 max in a room. We have 3 as well and rarely manage all in one room.

Would this

bed and breakfast directory help?

With the travelodge/premier inn type places you have to phone them individually and explain you have 3 children and would they accept you in a family room. They will say that they are not insured etc but some will be swayed by your plight and say yes. Not sure if they are allowed to legally so make sure you are profusive with your thanks etc
They all asked the ages of my dds so understate if they are over 12

this is run by someone DP went to school with. No idea how much it costs though.

this is in ware roebuck - you'd need to call
or check out places in buntingford listings - v near standon

or here here in ware, b&B
HTH - its not exactly choc a bloc with places to stay I am afraid.
Otherwise a stansted airport hotel, which would be about 30 mins drive away
