Looking to take my mum out for her birthday in a few weeks (midweek).

Looking for recommendations for somewhere a wee bit special? I'm just outside Glasgow, dont mind driving a bit, although would like to stay clear of city centre if at all possible?

Some where bistro/country pub esque?

Oh and has to be child friendly as we'll have ds who is 1 with us.

Not asking much ?

Hello there fellow geordie, how's tricks?

How about the Cross Keys, Kippen (Stirlingshire). Good food, and v child friendly - and not in the city centre. Another place I like a lot, if you and your mum like fish, is Maccallums Oyster Bar, at the harbour at Troon - but that's not pub like at all!

The Riverhouse Restaurant in Stirling is gorgeous. We were there a year ago with a one yr old and a 4 yr old and they were very accommodating. There was a children's play area - but check it's still there if you think you'll need it.

GM - my way is your way, I'm in Glasgow too!

Congratulations on that one year milestone. I finish work next Thursday, and then I've got about 4 weeks til due date. Can't believe it's come round so quickly! Feeling fine, ta - looking forward to maternity leave starting of course, and have fingers crossed for a great summer this year!

Hi GMM. What about Duck Bay Marina up at Loch Lomond? Hadn't been for ages until i went back with my DS and DH last September and its all been done up inside. If the weather is half decent it is gorgeous and its also child friendly while still feeling a bit indulgent/adult IYSWIM. Gave DS paper and crayons, high chair and lots of attention which was really nice. If you go midweek won't be too busy either

Ooo that sounds like a good idea lilee, then we can have a full day out at Lomond Shores. Ds would like that. Will investigate....
