Liverpool area: recommendations for really nice hotels

Later this year it is a significant birthday for our DD who lives in Liverpool.

We would like to find a really nice place where we can all spend the night. Maybe somewhere we can take a suite. Somewhere a bit quirky all the better.

A really good restaurant would be ideal but if it is in the city centre we could find somewhere else to eat.

Also would love any ideas for places to visit in the day either in the city, on the Wirral or at the coast

Have a look at the Titanic Hotel, we had a meal there recently and it looked very nice

Can recommend the Hope Street Hotel and suggest that you drift along the Hope Street/ Faulkner Sreet bars and restaurants but recommend booking a table somewhere otherwise you'll end up with chips and a kebab ( actually not abad choice with a rivers view)Enjoy

You'll be spoilt for voice for things to do and I'd suggest a sailing lesson at West Kirby or eating out at Wirral's secret Michelin starred restaurant

30 James Street is a beautiful hotel, floors & rooms all Titanic themed (but tastefully done, building used to be the White Star offices). It's walking distance from the restaurant Matou (Pan Asian) which overlooks the Mersey. Can thoroughly recommend both.

The Shankly hotel is amazing and the food is really good too

We have had a few bad experiences at 30 James Street/titanic hotel (same place, there is a second titanic hotel but not walkable distance from town centre)

They are both owned by signature living but the experience couldn't be more different, even the breakfast was different (lot more choice at Shankly)

Another vote for Hope St hotel. London Carriageworks is a lovely restaurant or the Philamonic.

Hope, radisson Blu and Novotel are nice. Titanic looks impressive but a couple of the rooms smell of damp. Nice restaurant and it is beautiful looking but not the best smelling rooms (2 out of 3 had damp issues or something similar smelling)

We like the Malmaison - it's a walk along the river from the city centre and has a nice bar too.
