Anyone know Devon?

We are in SE Devon, a last minute change of location due to circs beyond control. Anyone know the area around Seaton? Are there any non pebble beaches? It seems to be steep shingle and pebble everywhere. Dog friendly would be a huge bonus, as would any recommendations for walks etc. Thank you so much

Thank you Five! Lyme regis was absolutely packed yesterday, looking today for somewhere for peaceful picnic. One of party not good with crowds.

Try Bicton Gardens, dogs on leads welcome, lots of little areas to picnic, streams to paddle on etc, took DC's a couple of years ago and we stayed there 5 hours!

Try two areas of woodland - Lamberts Castle is national trust area but dogs allowed. Lots of grassy areas suitable for a picnic. Nothing there except carpark though.
Other one is forest walk- trinity hill. You should find it on an online map. Both very near Seaton.
Charmouth beach has a sandy area ( not 100 percent sure dogs allowed at this time of year) but beautiful, non touristy so quieter!
Best walk ever is Beer to Branscombe over the cliffs. Amazing views! Start at Branscombe. Walk over the cliffs to Beer. Have your lunch at the Dolphin pub, beer garden looks over the beach, then walk back!
Donkey sanctuary is lovely to visit- no dogs thou
Seaton- there is a walk towards Lyme Regis on the coast path. You go up by the Seaton golf club. I haven't done it myself.
West Bay beach is nice for a wander but very touristy so may be packed. Further on is Burton Bradstock coastline- beach less shingle and quieter as no town/shops.
Axe Valley wildlife park good if you have kiddies. Very small family zoo type attraction. Based in Axminster.
Honiton is a nice little town for antique shopping and cafes.
Sidmouth is another touristy promenade type beach. Mostly shingle and will be very busy. Good little town and cafes/fish and chips.
