I am going to book a cottage for the week after easter, we have decided on wales, and I was thinking of cardigan bay - I'venever been there, but it looks like the sort of place that would be suitable for a 2 year old and a 6 month old (as they will be by then).
Has anyone any experiences, or any other recommendations?
I want to be near a beach for DS1, but want plenty to do if the weathers a bit dodgy.

We went to New Quay in Cardigan in August, gorgeous old Welsh seaside town- lpenty for adults and kids. Would recommend heartily. Beach not sandy, more a beautiful ground up white shell, but my 3 loved it. Lots to do in the area too, including dolphin spotting, aberystwyth etc

There's a lovely, extensive sandy beach just north of Aberystwyth. Can't remember what it's called, sorry. Aber itself doesn't have a sandy beach particularly, more pebbles as I recall. Not sure that there's plenty to do there though, if you're not a student.

We stayed here a few years ago (it has now changed hands) andit would be a good place for children and not too far from Mwnt Beach

Oh Mwnt Beach is stunning

Tenby is fab and so is the beach at New Quay.

Some of the beaches can be hard to get to, down some very steep roads....as I found out when I went there this year. Stunning place though

We went to Barmouth and, although I would not recommend going there, there are lovely beaches. Porthmadog was busy and we went to a little place called Tywyn (I think) and that was nice too.

The weather was terrible when we were there and that was the downfall for us as most of the activities etc were miles apart and I did not appreciate how long it would take to get to places considering he road network etc.

Well I live in Cardigan bay and it is great, really. The beaches are all amazing and there are other things to do- the wildlife centre in cilgeran has a decent child friendly cafe-but we do tend to do outdoor stuff even if its wet. "bay to remember" do fantastic boat trips when you might get lucky and see the dolphins, although your six month old would be too tiny really to go out as there can be a lot of spray. We live not far from Poppit sands,a big open beach at the mouth of the estuary and we go there and shelter in the dunes if its very windy. There are lots of families here with young children and its very friendly so you are bound to get chatting to other parents who can suggest places to go.the abbey in St dogmaels would be good for your two year old to clamber over, there is a working water mill you can have a tour of next to the abbey, you can go to Blueberry angoras in Moylgrove and visit the goats while buying mohair socks.Lots of beautiful riverside walks with amazing wildlife (I saw an otter from the bus this week).come, its fab.
