Moonfleet manor?

Just wondering has anyone to Moonfleet Manor recently...is it still looking 'tired'?

that's what tripadvisor seems to think! they seem to have diversified into offering spa days which is really odd for a child friendly hotel to then offer adult only type activities. that alone would set the alarm bells ringing for me.

It was lovely when we went a year ago. You can book the children into a creche session so you can have a spa treatment or you can take dc into the creche area and play with them in there if it's raining etc. We didn't put dc in the creche but dh played with dc in the play area (a converted indoor bowls club so large area) while I had a massage. We did try the listening service to eat our dinner one night without the dc - service was very good but unfortunately our dc were not (to be fair they were 5 and 2 18mos so maybe we were overly optimistic.)
they had a very friendly dog. We stayed 2 nights and we're very happy with our stay.

We had a lovely few days there in the autumn- food was good, room was nice, staff were fab. Our LO was only 3months but the facilities for older kids looked good and the pool was nice. I'd say it felt cosy rather than tired but certain things (eg the shower in our room) were a bit dated. We'd definitely go back.

Thanks - yes the TripAdvisor reviews were worrying. I laughed at the reference to the 'battered Volvo brigade'!
I think we're going to do a cottage rental instead - my DH won't appreciate shabby chic, and I think I'll be going in with low expectations, so won't really be looking forward to it!
For us as a family for 5 days it was £1,900 odd, so I would red to be sure!

I failed to realise (and was disappointed to find) that Chesil beach is so high it means you can't see the sea from the hotel. It's like looking at a big tower of shingle. They take ariel shots of the hotel for the brochure so I imagined it by the sea although I knew the lagoon meant I couldn't access the beach.
