London show with DCs (Matilda). Is it worth getting the expensive seats?

We are potentially going down to London next weekend and might book tickets to see Matilda (if we can persuade the bank to let us remortgage the house). The tickets range dramatically in price. Does this mean the good seats are much much better? Is it worth paying the extra?

Yes. Have a look at seatmonkey website for tips. The circle and balcony are quite far back from the stage as well as higher up, the farther forward the better.
Also look at Get into London theatre website and see if there are any cheap tickets to be had.
Tis an excellent show. Charlie is good too, if you can't get into Matilda.

Have you had a look at any of these sites?

We went to Wicked in the summer and I went for mid range price seats after looking at some of the review sites for theatre seating.

Some of the staging is amazing and it really makes a difference to have prime seats!!! Hope you enjoy it, it's amazing!

we went cheap and regretted it

were a bit meh about whole thing and think most of that was down to where we were (cheapest)

go down the back of the sofa is my advice

Completely agree with what others have said. We had seats that were very high up (and I find it a bit unnerving climbing all the steps!)
Having said that the show was fantastic.
We are going to see Charlie at half term, have learnt from our mistake with Matilda and booked good seats :)

Ok more expensive seats it is then. There are two sets available. Middle of stalls and front row of dress circle. Any thoughts on which would be better? At the moment I'm favouring front row of dress circle since DS2 is seven and having a tall person sat in front of him can really ruin things.

Oh FFS between posting, collecting DS1 from stagecoach and driving home again the bloody tickets have gone anyway!

Did you put the seats in your basket? If si they may reappear.

There are shelves full of booster seats at the back of the stalls for kids.

Fingers crossed but nothing so far. Oh well. That's just saved £380!

There is another thread about this I posted on but I think Matilda is fine in the 'cheap' (er)seats. The Cambridge is a small theatre and the Upper Circle doesn't feel far away if you can get row A or B in the middle. In fact if you are very small I would say row B would be better - the rake is huge and a booster cushion would make the view even better. Honestly it is fab - the only downside is the crush in the foyer before - go to the loo at the start and avoid it during the interval
