Seaside holiday in August

For me, DH and my kids who are 15,13 and 9, DSis with 1 year old twins, and my mum and dad. They are in East midlands ish area and we are in North West/Cheshire. We have thought about North Wales, maybe Llandudno, but was wondering about maybe Norfolk/Suffolk.
Self catering would probably be best.
Any recommendations? Don't want any of us to have to drive too far because it will only be a few days (or I would kill my mother!!!)

Susie you are going to struggle to find something in august for a few days. main school holiday lets are one week now especially since the gove ruling about holidays in term time. if you are looking for a place for 10-12 of you altogether then try groupaccommodation and bigholidayhouse websites. you will find something on there but it will be for a week not less.

Yes, I thought that. Mum is paying so may well pay for a whole week. We are not all staying together, 2 places near each other or 4 hotel rooms would be what we need

We've been here a few times now, to the barn and been very happy with it.

North Norfolk is lovely - not overly busy, restful and plenty to do. We had a great holiday in a self catering cottage a couple of miles in land from Cromer. There were 6 - 8 cottages on the site and plenty of other similar places around - maybe a couple of cottages on a small site or farm would fit the bill for you.

Kelling Heath might fit the bill - they have caravans and (I think) lodges, and they definitely do midweek or weekend breaks in the summer holidays (though there's so much to do in Norfolk that I'd recommend staying for the full week if you can cope!)

It's a lovely site with indoor and outdoor pool, and its own stop on the steam train to Sheringham. It's an easy drive to loads of fab beaches and places to go.

Another vote for North Norfolk. We stayed in Wells-next-the-Sea last year and loved it. The beaches are massive and we found lots to do in the area.
