Ok Friend is travelling to London 12th June looking to stay max 5 nights min 3. Needs to be getting to Brick Lane each day and is unfamiliar with London - he is also extremely anti social!

So he needs place to stay that is

as cheap as possible without being a hostel and not sharing bathrooms etc.

Please can anyone help advise as to where may be a good place to look?

Try Premier Inn, Travelodge, etc, and LateRooms.com for hotels in east London or.southeast. TfL Journey Planner will show you how to get to Brick Lane - Aldgate East or Shoreditch High St are nearest stations. I'd tick the option to not use buses as they are tricky if unfamiliar with London.

There's an easy hotel on old street - a bit Spartan but extremely cheap and he could walk to brick lane. Also a thistle in clerkenwell which is more pricey but nicer and also walking distance.

He could try going out a bit. Bethnal Green and Mile End arent far, also bow. Think there's a days inn near Mile End. Brick Lane is also walking distance from liverpool st station, benthal green tube and whitechapel.

There are definitely hotels around Liverpool St or there is a hotel called City View in bethnal green - no idea what it is like but you could walk to brick lane in about 20 mins from there, or hop on no.8 bus.

Do not, under any circumstance, stay at the City View in Bethnal Green. Just don't. At least not the one of Cambridge Heath Road. I think another one opened on the top end of Roman road, not sure what that is like.

Travelodge has a hotel in Liverpool Street which is ideal for Brick Lane. Cheap, clean, safe. I use them a lot when travelling for work.

I meant to say, bathroom is shared but only 2 rooms - most likely the other room will not be occupied

Nice, but it's a £110 a night lol. I doubt he will be happy sharing a bathroom for that price - btu it does look lovely!

He is happy to commute in half an hour/40 minutes out or so is fine

Yes, the prices have gone up considerably - it was £85 a night last time I looked.

This one is not exactly bargain basement either but looks nice

Bethnal Green

I think everywhere really cheap round there might just be a bit shitty...
