Is it worth paying extra for seat and O-Bar handle on mini micro scooter?

DS's second birthday is fast approaching and i'm thinking maybe a scooter would be a good idea (even though he has loads of sit on toys and a balance bike). We visited friends who have one with the seat and o-bar handle and he jumped straight on it and seemed to love it. Since researching them and finding out the price, i'm wondering if it's necessary to pay the extra for the seat and o-bar or if i should just buy the mini micro T bar scooter and hope he picks it up quickly? Does anyone have any experience/recommendations of either?

Or can you think of a better idea. He has loads of 'vehicles' and was lucky enough to get lots of duplo and brio for Christmas which are both a great hit.TIA

Because we had a scooter for ds1, ds2 and 3 have been using it just as a normal scooter from 18mnths for ds2 (was walking at 10mnths) and not long after for ds3. So I would say just go for the scooter. My DS have all had a balance bike and a scooter and now a normal bike for ds1 and 2 so I think a scooter is a great present. Ds3 loves his and does most of the school run on it and he is only 2 and a half! They only thing is that he goes so fast! I have him on 'a lead ' to keep him safe as he is not consistent at stopping at roads being so young!

As for other presents ds3 is getting really into 'pretending'. Dressing up, cooking, shopping, play tools, etc.

For my eldest ds we bought a scooter for his 2nd birthday and it was a great hit. he is now 4.8 so we bought another scooter with obar & seat recently for my 20 month old. He just doesn't get it though. I'm not sure if it will click with him or should we just remove seat? It's a lot if money mayb check out eBay or gumtree, mine might be going on there!

The micro scooters are great,we had the bar and seat bit for our dd but at 25mths she can now scoot fine without it, she is the youngest if five tho so has siblings to copy and she wants to be just like them!

They are good and you can always sell them on/keep it for younger siblings.

How tall is your ds?

We got this for DS when he was 18 months, he's now 24 months and has loved it. He's not ready for it as a scooter yet, so for me I do feel it has saved me buying a sit on and then a scooter.

Thanks guys, i'm keeping me eye on ebay and i totally forgot all about gumtree so i'll check that out too. If i could get the scooter with o-bar and seat cheap enough secondhand i think i would opt for that otherwise i think i'll just go for the t-bar scooter and hope he picks it up quickly. I just don't like the idea of forking out £55/60 for something that may sit around for aother 6months before he starts using it but in the same breath i don't want to fork out an extra £20 unnecessarily! DS is average height and was walking at 11months. He has a wheelybug and sit on train/tractor which is flys about on. He picked up a friends scuttlebug and was wizzing round on that in 2mins so i do feel the scooter would be a logical next step. Thanks for the other ideas too, i'll check them out.

We either use reins with only one part attached or his little life rucksack with the lead part on. It just gives me reassurance, especially because I am watching ds1 and 2 aswell!

We loved the obar seat, DS was obsessed with it from the start. The seats sell well on ebay when they graduate to the T bar!

DS got the scooter for his 2nd birthday and picked it up pretty quickly. They didn't make the seat then, but tbh it would have been a waste of money for us (he already had desperate ride on toys).
