After 10 long and frustrating months,we have actually found a pony for DD2.We went to try her this morning and I just knew she was the right one for us.DD2 rode her in the paddock,on the road and across open fields and she was great, not bothered by buses, tractors or anything we encountered. She is a blue roan Dartie x and very much like dpony, apart from being better tempered. She has hunted, done PC,gymkhanas,ODE,cross country, fancy dress, showjumping, games, just about everything you can think of.Her owners said that one viewer had turned her down for 'not being pretty enough',but we aren't bothered about looks.

They aren't going to show her to anyone else until we have got back to them and have said that we can go back as many times as we like to try her again.

I'm so pleased,I've hated pony shopping and thought we'd never find what we were looking for,but she has been the only pony we've seen who has ticked all the boxes and that hasn't had a 'but' attached to it.She is the 20th pony we have viewed.Dh agreed with me,as soon as we got into the car,he said that she was the right one.

oh wow, 20!

glad you got there in the end - when do you think you'll be bringing her home?

Yes,20,and they are the ones I actually saw.I must have enquired about 100 or so that we didn't try.Let no one say I'm half hearted about these things.Grin

I don't know when we'll fetch her yet.DD2 was very keen until she realised that it would mean newboy going back to his owner.I underestimated how much she loves him-she is a pragmatic little soul and has never shed a tear when other ponies have gone back. The poor child climbed onto my lap in floods of tears at the thought of him going though,so we have given her the illusion of choice by saying that we'll sleep on it tonight and ring the seller in the morning.Another complication is that we are meant to be going to a gymkhana next Sunday and she wants to take newboy.I suppose we'll have to see if they want cash or a cheque and if the cheque has to clear first.I can't keep more than two ponies on the yard,so can't have one come until one goes.

Brilliant news; I'm sure DD will be fine once she has her new pony.

Thank you.DD2 got up this morning in a happier frame of mind and said she did want the new pony [name of Blueberry btw].I have spoken to the owner briefly,as we've been out all morning, but will ring her again later to firm up details.

Brilliant, well done! She'll settle with him quickly I'm sure, and with the holidays coming up the timing couldn't be better for her to develop a good relationship. Pictures required asap!

Thankyou. We are hopefully picking her up on 18th July,in time for camp.I have to say that whilst I'm excited for DD2,I'm going to be really sad about newboy going. He has done so much for DD2's confidence in the past 2 months, not only ridingwise. The fact that she can manage a pony that other older children were scared of or was too fast has given her a real boost.

I'll try and link to the ad for Blueberry.

Oh she looks perfect Smile How exciting! It is hard to say goodbye, but the right pony is so important for children. Love his name too.

She looks perfect, how excited you must all be after all this time! It will be sad to see newboy go, but now he's done his job he can do the same for someone else........

She looks great. So pleased for you and your DD, Mirage. It's been a bit of a slog for you but worth it in the end. I love the name as well.
