Have just entered dpony for two inhand shows
Entered myself to do a walk/trot dressage test - . my first proper one

Now just need to tidy dponys mane a little and learn the test Smile And book a trailer for the shows.

Am reminding myself that the worst that can happen at the show is that dpony and I will be at the end of the line. S'not like we'll be laughed out. I hope.

I feel dead positive now - have been spurred into action after berating a friend about how if she doesn't enter for things she'll have nothing to aim at. Except her aim is far, far higher than mine !

Well done! You have given me a bit of courage as I want to enter DD2 and newboy into some lead rein classes but am wobbling a bit.I'm not worried about them, they know what they are doing, but I've never done anything like that before and am scared I'll cock it up and ruin it for them.DD1 is fine as the classes she wants to enter don't involve me at all,[thankfully].Grin

The lead rein thing scares me too ! They look very yummy mummy which is not me at all. That said, think I'll give it a go at local small shows as something in the morning before the gymkhana games/fancy dress.

You'll be fine CMOT. Funny thing is we're happy driving all over the country doing Royal International M&M First Ridden qualifers but Fancy Dress would give us the heebie geebies. All those mummys are so inventive and make so much effort and we wouldn't know where to start!

I guess what happens is that when you know the unwritten rules, you don't worry, but the thought of everyone sniggering as you've worn the wrong type of skirt (or whatever) is mortifying.

You can't take fancy dress too seriously as the judging is doubtful to say the least. And some people take it waaaaayyyy too seriously. But I reckon its good practice for dpony on putting up with whatever he has plonked on him. DS and dpony are going to be ninjas this year. DH wanted them to be mexican wrestlers, but ds thinks not, and wants the ninjas.

While you are here though Wink do you have an opinion on the length of a secAs mane ? Dponys is very long, as is his forelock and I really like him like that. But will he look odd compared to others ? On the secA fb group I'm on, people seem to have everything from practically show pony length, to the very full, so no help.

Just enjoy it :) remember you still your pony whatever and if one person it doesnt mean the next person won't. I remember winning with my pony at quite a high level show. The next week was a local show, she stood 2nd bottom of the line up and the judge sai 'shed have been higher if she werent chestnut' I just stood gobsmacked but I laugh about it now!! Much prefer dressage, enjoy that!!
