Urgh, dpony was really horrible yesterday, bitey and grumpy and very ill mannered.Once saddled up she was fine and hacked out like an angel though. This morning I thought I'd go and do some groundwork with her,to reinforce that she has to behave, and she tried to bite me a few times, then went back to her old trick of planting and tossing her head about when being lead.I persisted and got her walking nicely and backing up ect,but it took a good 5 minutes to get out of the menage and back to her field when we were done,as she refused to move forwards.

I'll persist with the groundwork, because it worked before, but obviously needs repeating regularly to remind her,but I'm wondering if she is coming into season again,as it is warm here and her hormones always make her grumpy. She was lovely for a few months over the winter, but now,all of a sudden is not.Sad Can anyone recommend a supplement to try her on to see if it helps? Thankyou.

We have three mares, and have been very lucky as no issues so far, but I have heard good reports about moody mare. I'm pretty sure one of ours is coming into season so wouldn't be surprised if yours is. Maybe she needs chocolate Smile

It's a pain to be sure! I've got a NF and a trad Shetland who flirt constantly from February to November. I've tried moody mare, and globals frisky mare. Global are usually excellent, but neither did much. I'm pretty sure there is one called Hormoneze that I might try next.
IMO its a shame that mares can't be spayed!

Hi
Our mares have been in season and covered! You could try magic or ostress. Ostress ismade by NAF but cant for the life of me rember who magic is made from.

Thankyou all.I have bought something called 'Hormanise' [might be the one you are thinking of Saggy] as I when I saw it on the shelf I remembered a lady at PC mentioning it.Let's hope it works.

Forgot to add,I'm pretty sure she is in season,we were out hacking this afternoon and a gelding came trotting up behind us,dpony, quite out of character refused to trot on and went as slow as she could until he caught us up.His poor rider was apologising, for his enthusiasm, but I explained that it was probably down to dpony being alluring.Grin
