Looking after my friends DD yesterday lunchtime in town, while she took her DS to a hospital appointment.
I was surprised and annoyed by the number of people of all ages and genders who were effing and blinding without any thought to who was within earshot, (including my 4 year old companion).
I finally cracked when two young men (estate agents) sat next to us while we ate our cornets, and carried out a conversation sprinkled with f*ks and c**s.
They were apologetic and quite sweet about being rude - but there were easily another 40-50 instances within 2 hours where I heard the same language.
Am I too old fashioned for modern city life?.

No, you are right I hate it too especially if DD is with me.
Before working at a Secondary school I would, like most people not pull loud, sweaty teenagers on the bus up about it but now I do it without realising it, if it's students from my school I'll look and raise an eyebrow and more often than not they'll look quite sheepish about it.

My DD has complex needs and let's just say she has this wonderful gift of saying it as it is. Once a lady was rather rude in a cafe to the assistant and pushed by my daughter. Her response was 'mummy that lady wasnt very nice was she she needs to learn some manners as they don't cost anything do they'. When we sat down you could feel the glare of disgust and when she got up and walked past and tutted loudly and made a comment along the lines of 'rude child'. I stood up and tapped her on the shoulder as my husband lowered into his chair and said ferry very calmly 'excuse me my daughter is not rude. She tells the truth and is very polite unlike you. I think you need to apologise to her and the lady on the till and also keep your rude comments to yourself. If you don't feel like you can do that then please keep quiet' with that everyone in the cafe clapped. Have to say I went as red as a beetroot at that point but how very dare she. Daughter did say 'mummy why have have you gone red?'
